Twins run into traffic in England's M6 motorway:
This was just televised by the BBC in Britain. THe name of the show was "Madness in the Fast Lane". It is one of the most bizarre stories ever. I came across the story from Metafilter website.

snip:

Ursula and Sabina Eriksson are a pair of Swedish twins who came to national attention in the United Kingdom in 2008 after an apparent episode of folie à deux, which resulted in unique footage of insanity on the M6 motorway, and the killing of Glenn Hollinshead. No drugs or alcohol were involved in any of the incidents.<1><2> Their actions have never been explained, other than by a rare induced delusional disorder which caused the pair to be temporarily insane.

3. Okay, I've seen that site once or twice.
I was thinking that perhaps you were, instead, a reader of Fortean Times :)

4. WOW! There has to be some kind of mental illness involved
Seriously...what an extremely bizarre incident. And to continue fighting to run into the traffic after police and medics are there.
I guess the question would be, since they are twins, were they both fighting some kind of mental health breakdown simultaneously, or was one having a sympathetic breakdown for her sister? Does that even make sense?
Truly stunning and all in tape as well.

5. I read through the wiki entry
and the "folie à deux" mentioned is like you say, a "sympathetic" form of mental illness. I don't understand how that works at all or why, so it's just bizarre all the way around...

7. I am surprised that they were not detained longer for mental health observa-
tion after the initial incidents. I would also be curious to see their background histories... that is incredibly wild.
