Going to Berlin tomorrow
Today is my last work day for the week. :woohoo:

Going to take a train tomorrow to Berlin and visit my brother. On Friday and Saturday we are going to a comic convention (of one specific German comic) and he needs me as his driver. I've done that the last 3 to 4 years. Since I read the comic as well when I was a kid (and am reading it again) I don't mind driving my brother there. It is fun for me too. And he pays for my hotel room :D

Oh wow, there is even an English Wiki entry to the comic http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mosaik

1. I think we need to concentrate on the 2 most important things:
#1 Be careful and come back safe.

#2 Whatcha gonna bring me?

to #1 will do

to #2 a piece of the wall? Not sure if the pieces they sell are still original though. Or I could bring you a copy of the comic :)

12. Take away will be alright
and I don't mind all the critters. I just demand that I can pet the cats while I translate the comic.

13. G'day, MissH!
:hi:

Sounds like fun! :D This weekend is the big Pirate Xmas/Invasion at the RenFest in Charlotte. My brothers, a few rennies, and I will be driving on Friday so we can be at the gate opening Saturday and Sunday. This is the big weekend when friends and rennies from all over the region spend the weekend at the good town of Fairhaven.

19. Absolutely!
not sure which one. The forecast is warmer than usual, high temps 20C, so most of the cold-weather items, like the leather, will be staying home. I have to get a digital camera this week; at least the prices have come down a lot so I can get a decent one cheap.

22. Have you been to the zoo there?
.
.
.
COOLEST zoo I've ever been to -- helped immensely by two things:
.
#1. The Insectarium -- an entire HOUSE devoted to insects and arachnids -- the
tarantula and scorpion exhibits were cool (call me nerd -- we are LEGION!!!)
.
@2. The Alligator House(?) -- you walked over dozens of alligators all in a pile
waiting patiently, oh-so-patiently for you to take a misstep -- as I recall there
was no railing or anything on the "bridge". It's the site of many a scene from
Cold War spy novels of the 70's and such.
.
.
The ancient church that only had one tower(?) survive the bombings and was
rebuilt as a modern architectural beauty, but retaining that one ancient tower.
.
.
When it was "West Berlin", it was an island of the West surrounded on all sides by
East Germany, therefore seemed a city of almost desperate hedonism -- almost
anything you wanted could be found there.
.
.
Long story for another time... I was almost arrested as an American spy -- saved
at the last moment and VERY grateful -- however, with time, NOW I'm a little bit
disappointed that I wasn't as it would have been one of the coolest stories in the
world to have in your background ("I was once arrested as a spy in East Berlin").
.
.
I stayed in the Hotel Kempinski, a 5-star hotel with a tiny room for hundreds of
dollars a night (although the NICEST European "hotel" I stayed at was a family-run
B&B in Zoll, Austria -- $6/night with an ENORMOUS antique four-poster bed and a
down comforter a FOOT thick... AND continental breakfast in the morning).
.
.
Be safe. Have a BLAST!!! The future thread will be useless without pics.
.
.
.
