Seriously, cats are capable of learning and troubleshooting problems

My problem this morning - I was so tired this morning that I kept hitting the snooze alarm for over an hour. Mind you I was out late to see Roger Water's The Wall Concert so my butt was dragging this morning.

My Cat's problem - he's hungry, he is a cat they always are hungry.

My solution to lack of sleep - I kept hitting the snooze button over and over again. My alarm goes off at 7am in the morning and I was still hitting it at 8:15am.

My cat's solution - he ended up sitting his big fat furry 17lb butt on the nightstand, between me and the alarm clocks. Nothing like sleepily poking your cat when you were expecting an alarm clock. That got me out of bed.

Hasn't he trained you yet that you feed him BEFORE you go to bed?

at one point my fat ass cats were capable of sitting on the clock and turning the radio on. Which they would do. On Saturday mornings at the time I normally got up for work on the weekdays...EVUL FUZZY BASTIDS.

no later than 8am will Abbott be on the bed annoying the bejesus out of me. His stomach is the most reliable alarm clock in the world

One of them involves the kitchen cabinets under the sink. They're magnetized and snap back when they're only opened a few inches.

She's figured out how sit there and snap them over and over and over. BANG. BANG. BANG. BANG.

This cabinet is not where I keep the cat food, by the way. She just figured out the noise drives me nuts.


The other thing is, my Brazilian mom gave me a fairly large berimbau.




It's a musical instrument that's part string, part percussion, and is used a lot in the traditional music of Bahia, especially to accompany capoeira. It's very complicated to play well, much more so than it looks. It makes a bouncy, sproingy sort of sound.

As you can see, the main part of it resembles a bow, with the taut wire and the bent stick. I have mine propped up in a corner by the desk in my bedroom.

My cat can play it almost as well as I can (which isn't saying much). Sproing sproing sproing sproing. She plucks it with her claw at the crack of dawn. Very delicate. And very worrying.
