The king of cool...Steve McQueen

Life magazine released 20 never before published pictures from a photo shoot in 1963. Steve McQueen was 30, riding high in popularity from the success of "The Magnificent Seven."

Besides bikes, He was also well known for his cars. His Ferrari was iconic:

It was distinctive because of its color, a deep brown.(Most Ferraris are Red, Black or silver) So if you saw it , you knew McQueen was around. He had a ranch up in Santa Paula, and a hanger at the airport there which was like a clubhouse. My friends and I had a plane there, but we never got in to "the club". Of course another iconic car associated with McQueen : the Bullit Mustang

8. That chase scene from Bullit was second to none.

The only thing that came close, IMO was the chase scene from "The Italian Job."

7. I truly admire the way he lived his life: to the fullest.

As it should be.

The first time I ever saw him was when my folks took us to the drive-in to see the Magnificent Seven when it was first released. I was seven, and for some reason I couldn't take my eyes off of him and James Coburn. Not long after, "The Great Escape was released, and I had my "hero."

McQueen was so cool, to this day I think no one could match him.:toast:

4. Perfect example of the "Yeah, he's a conservative, but I still like him" kind of guy.

Every now and then, someone in the Lounge posts a Name a conservative actor/musician/artist/etc. whose work you nevertheless enjoy. McQueen's an easy answer.
