Harry sent Charley home to me.

Charley is one of our semi-feral cats. She spent last winter with us and stayed through early summer, then left around July. I was heartbroken when she didn't come back, and watched the back door obsessively for a couple of weeks, hoping she'd pop up.

Yesterday Mrs. V. emailed me that she'd opened the door for one cat and a little black streak shot through the door and into the kitchen. It was Charley. (She is actually a black and brown tabby; her coat is very dark.) She hissed and growled and spit even as she rubbed around Mrs. V.'s ankles. She chowed down, hissing and growling the whole time. As soon as I got home from work and she heard my voice, she came out of her hiding place and jumped up onto the arm of my chair, waiting for me to sit down.

I'm so glad Charley came back.

Like you missed Charley and got her back as a little black streak, I miss Porkchop, a feral who got her meals, vitamins and deworming meds her for a winter and spring. It's probably better she stopped coming, I guess, because Ginger always very aggressively asserted his "ownership" of the territory, but I still miss her terribly. :(
