Should I get my hair cut?
No- serious question.

Just able to get back into "the real world" after wrist surgery- but certain tasks just hurt!

Like combing/brushing my hair... I had cut it short before the surgery... but have had a long recovery. It's overgrown and shaggy. I miss my long hair and want to grow it back.

I'm torn.

Eeek.

help?

1. I kept mine short for a couple of years - hated it. Long hair rules.
And I'm a guy. My wife and two of my daughters all have long hair as well. The youngest decided to reign hers in a couple of years ago. It looks okay, but I think she looked better with it long.

2. A picture would help
Sometimes age plays into hair length, but convenience rules as far as I'm concerned, wash and dry hair is the best, so shorter hair is easier.

4. I meant to address this concept before I saw your post, but forgot...

I just don't understand the conventional "wisdom" about older women
not having long hair (I'm presuming that's what you meant about age
playing into it).

.
I think "older" women with long hair get extra "hotness" points.

6. Theory goes, long hair tends to pull a face down.
Shorter, layered hair softens downward lines. It really, like you say, depends on the person.

7. Natural waves????
That second pic is beautiful. The cut is perfect for your hair. Of course, both are attractive, but the shorter cut suits both your face and hair texture.

9. Lots of women look great with just a few inches atop
If combing/brushing it is a problem for you right now, why not tell a stylist that you just want it trimmed and undercut a bit so it mostly controls itself

Skilled work can be almost maintenance-free. I had a two-or-three inch job a few years back that the stylist recommended as popular and convenient: with a towel dry after a shower, I was good to go with no more effort. I think you could pull that off abnd look elegant

3. In case you haven't been clued in yet, I'm a man...
.
.
.
.
...and I like MY hair one of two ways -- either VERY long or VERY short (like
maybe 1/2" or so).
.
.
.
.
One thing I've "learned" (duh) over the years? It takes me 3-5 YEARS to grow
my hair out... but only 5 minutes to make it short.
.
.
.
.
When I moved here to Tucson, I needed a job, so I went to a barber shop and
happened to get the owner, who was the only woman barber there. She asked
what I wanted and I couldn't speak -- despite her asking several times.
.
She finally looked at me and said, "Oh NO... don't make me do THAT!!"
.
She knew without me telling her. She took it down to that half-inch.
.
On job interviews, I found that (except for specific jobs like banking and
management), hair length is a moot point in Tucson.
.
.
.
.
Personally, I like long hair on women, though those with THICK hair to their
butts or beyond remind me of women with inches-long fingernails -- I wonder
how they get anything done.
.
.
.
.
Very short hair looks GREAT, but for my aesthetic tastes, only on women with
"elfin" faces.
