What's your favorite chill-out album?
Edited on Thu Nov-18-10 10:54 PM by marmar
It's been an intense day of news and arguing on DU.......

So I've got my fave chill music on right now, Massive Attack's "Protection".

What's yours?

The Cancelled Earth by Cities Last Broadcast

6. Brian Eno - "Ambient Music for Airports"
The new deluxe edition has the sounds of children being felt up by TSA agents dubbed over the original tracks.

Just kidding.

13. I doubt you could really improve on the original - although there were sequels.

14. I also thought the Apollo album was great.
His new album is supposed to be really good, though I haven't checked it out yet. But every time I go to the airport, I play Music For Airports and try to stand on the "flat escalator" (you know what I'm talking about; I don't remember the name for it) and bliss out.

Did you know his full name is Brian Peter George St. John le Baptiste de la Salle Eno?

Lou Rhodes' solo stuff is really nice, too. Her voice is amazing to me.

8. Has to be said - KLF "Chill Out"
Might not quite be my favorite, but it is good, and the name...

"Protection" is up there too, except that stupid snippet of a Doors cover at the end.

19. Bill Nelson's "The Romance of Sustain."
Edited on Fri Nov-19-10 04:37 PM by Amerigo Vespucci
Sort of ambient, sort of in the realm of Robert Fripp's "Frippertronics" soundscapes. Used to be a Be Bop Deluxe fan back in the day and am astounded at how prolific Nelson is in his solo career.

Anyone who likes Fripp and/or the Cocteau Twins' Robin Guthrie would love the hell out of this one.

I cannot tell you how many copies I've gone through over the years. I listened to it every night in high school as I fell asleep.
Even as I type this I'm listening to it on pandora on my cell phone while my daughter is in an appointment

Okay, I know "One of These Days" is a little intense. But the rest of the album is very relaxing. And Seamus with "...the dogs outside" just always makes me smile.
