My father died on my birthday, it feels so strange now with both of my parents gone.
I saw my Father today before the wake we had for him, he looked so small.

I know it gets better but it is really hard to keep it together right now.

Just wanted to thank all of y'all who showed me so much kindness.

The funeral will be on Monday.

Life goes on but I will miss my Father very much, I was so hoping we could have one more holiday together.

I noticed that two other people were posting about one of their parents.

Both of you will be in my thoughts.

Here is a toast to our loved ones, :toast:

It will be so strange not to be able to call him.

2. Thank you so much Heidi.
My Father was great Democrat.

So many people have sent flowers and have call or visited.

He knew so many people.

3. My dear texanwitch...
I'm so sorry for your loss...

Have you ever read Mitch Albom's book "For One More Day"?

He talks about families and how we wish we could have that one more day with a loved one. I highly recommend it. His other books are also well worth reading.

Peace to you...

4. Thank you so much.
Netflix has the movie, I just checked.

I moved it to the top of my list to watch.

I was never close to my own dad, so I envy those who were. Pain in loss still hurts, and you've had your share of it, seems to me.

Do take care, texanwitch.

And yes, a toast. Even though it's a Sunday morning, a toast is in order! :toast:

And a hug too

7. Sweetheart...
You know my thoughts are with you during this time. We know that in the natural order of things that we will lose our parents one day, but it makes it none the less painful and surreal.

My heart goes out to you with wishes that in time we may both learn to love the memories without the hurt.

10. Sorry, I am facing the same thing right now...
Dad died 2 years ago. Mom is in the hospital across the county and I am sure she is not coming home.

It will be very strange. It is now with her being gone now...

14. Awww. I didn't know that..
I'm sorry for your loss, and the fact that it happened on your birthday, but no matter when it happened, you would still "mark that day"..

It's always shocking when it happens, even it's not unexpected

My favorite uncle died on my birthday, but now all these years later, it's an excuse to think of him, whenever my birthday comes along ...& remember how kind he was to me:)

 to you & yours

15. I'm sorry for your loss Texanwitch....I lost my Dad in '97 and it still hurts
to think of him not being here...all I can say is that it gets easier to deal with over time, and that is pretty much it...time. You never really stop missing or loving that person, no matter how much time has passed, and I hope you get to see him again someday.

16. Losing a loved parent is hard enough, but having the loss occur on
one's birthday is even more heart-rending. The same thing happened to me in 2004. Sorry for your loss.

18. My deepest sympathy
It's so strange when our parents die and we realize we're the oldest generation.

It happened to me and it's happening to my friends now too.
