In fact, as a coping mechanism, I've been reminding myself of that very thing all afternoon.

8. I'm sorry
I hear ya.

Bad times, when they coincide with holidays, are just compounded, and it sucks when that happens. Been there, and kinda doin that too.

Hugs.

12. Work wasn't so bad in and of itself...
it went downhill about the time I learned a co-worker had a heart attack last night. He didn't look well, last night, when I left work... but I don't want to get into all that.

Don't you just wish we could run away to the Caribbean or somewhere for the winter? Such a common fantasy, I know...

17. As far as I know
They didn't even want to tell me. Last word, was, "He's ok... he's in the hospital." The last thing I said to him, when I left work last night, was "Please go to the ER-- I want to see you back here." He replied, "I'm thinking about it." Apparently, from what I learned 3rd hand, he did make it home... then went to the hospital (where he is now).

13. Damn. Looks like a lot of us gals should have made reservations
at a spa somewhere and had an enjoyable time keeping each other going.

19. Vegas would have worked too. It was more a thought
about how all us sad turkeys should converge somewhere and forget about "the holidays".

I've never been to a Spa (well, I've been to Spa, Belgium, so I guess I have). I'll be 50 next year and I've never had a pedicure, manicure or profession massage. I suppose some would say I'm due for "the spa treatment." I hear that all the time. But, then I think, "I'd rather get a chrome speedometer for my bike."

edit: wrong word

21. Actually, I have never done it either. That is just my code word
for relaxation, pampering, enjoying life. I have always thought that it would be fun. Probably would not meet my expectations.

28. Back in the 90's, I was living in a condo with two very good platonic female friends/coworkers...
.
.
.
{Come and knock on our door... we'll be waiting for you...}
.
.
.
...and one Christmas, I got them each a half-day at a local spa.
.
.
.
I think it very well might have been the most-appreciated gift
I've even given anyone in my life.
.
.
.
After they came back and described the experience, EACH and
EVERY woman at work wanted to move in with us.
.
.
.
I took careful note of that.
.
.
.
Yes, INDEED!!!!
.
.
.
