Garage Door Opener questions for the handy types
I'm not very handy at all, and neither is my wife. However, we both have garage door opener remotes where the "down" function does not seem to be working. It's only one button in the middle of the remote, and to make the door go up seems to work fine. However, I can press the button till the cows come home and the door won't go down. On my wife's remote, she has to press the button several times before it finally goes down. I can press the button inside the garage and the door goes up & down just fine.

I thought maybe it was the battery in the remote, but I replaced the battery and it's still doing the same thing.

Any ideas?

1. How old are the remotes?
Very possible that they have dirty contacts on the board. Relatively easy to clean, you can use a pencil eraser. You just have to take the board out.

6. Check the sensor alignment in the garage.
When we have problems with the door going down. Stops unless you press the button, in garage we don't use the remote, it is because the sensors get knocked out of line.
