Aren't they signs of good luck? I've only ever heard one when they have managed to get inside.

Because during the medfly spraying in the mid-80s the malathion killed them and many beneficial insects.

I totally miss hearing them. The fact that I can't scares me about what we've done to our ecosystem here!

I hate to kill them, but I can't stand the noise either. The traps work well and I've caught quite a few by placing the traps where I think they are coming from. My traps look like the picture on the box. I know it's cruel but it's cruel to me too (sobs). I have some good earplugs I sometimes use, the only thing is I am afraid I won't hear my alarm clock in the morning!! LOL (you can get them cheaper than this price from Ace if you do a shopping search.)

I feel your pain.
