So, my old computer is done and I'm trying to sync my Ipod.. BUT
The computer says it wants to erase my ipod to sync it with my new one. But I don't want to loose all my old music, that's bullshit. Any way around this?

1. How done is it?
Can you salvage the drive from the old one, and copy the music to the new one?

Or, can you just copy the music from the periodic back-up you made of your old computer? (just kidding. nobody really does that)

Also, there are forums dedicated to ipods. There may be some downloadable software to rip the contents from your ipod.

:hi:

2. Apple makes transferring content from the IPod to computer difficult, but not impossible.
I did this once after having to reformat my hard disk.

I don't remember the specifics, but Google "transfer ipod content to PC" - there are a number of links that appear to explain the steps (plus some trying to sell you some software that will do this). It all revolves around getting the right files into the right folder structure.

3. how about folks who just got a new Ipod?
What do they have to do? Friends of mine just asked me this and I don't remember what we did when our kid got his Ipod.

4. If your music is on the computer in ITunes
you should be able to put it on a new IPod without any difficulty.

11. LynneSin, does this work for multiple iPods?
I looked at the website but it doesn't seem clear.

10. If you can get to it, disable auto-sync.
I never use auto-sync - it fucks up my iPod every time I do.
