Well, this is an odd time to be asking for vibes...
But since I'm having trouble sleeping anyway...

I've got something really bad going on in my left knee tonight...

Sharp, stabbing pain on straightening it. Walking is possible, but difficult.

I'm going to call my orthopod in the later AM (since it's 3:22 a.m. now) and see if he can see me...

If he can't, then I'll be off to the local doc-in-a-box for more general care...

I have no idea what happened ...

But if you can spare this me a good thought or two, I'd sure appreciate it.

Thanks.

1. So sorry to hear about your
knee. I know how painful that can be.

Hopefully the doc can figure out what's wrong, and that it's an easy fix.

3. Good vibes heading your way.
I hope it's temporary and nothing serious. Sounds very unpleasant. Other than seeing the doctor I hope you take the time to baby yourself if you can. As my mother always used to say when we were sick, "just rest". I hated that as a kid but it sounds beautiful to my ears now. Permission to 'just rest'.

So even if you can't actually sleep, take it easy. Do the things you absolutely have to, but household duties and other things can wait.

I hope the insomnia and knee pain pass away quickly, but in the meantime, just rest.

16. Try to rest easy when you get back from the Doc's Miss Peg.
Sounds like you've had a nasty night, grab yourself a nap. Tuck a pillow under it so it as suspended as can be. Take in a movie or a good read.

So sorry the knee wigged on you, complex mechanisms they are. Hope this is an easy fix and temporary glitch of minor magnitude.

Good vibes, of course. I have a knee problem on occasion, I just use Arnica Gel and literally poof, all better. Inflammation, as you know, is where the pain comes from. http://www.umm.edu/altmed/articles/arnica-000222.htm

19. **Major Update**
Oh, the best kind of news!

Nothing broken.

Nothing slipped or torn.

It was just a fucking bony spur!

I have those all over ...

So, they took x-rays, and I saw the damned thing. Just a little dagger on the top of my patella/kneecap.

And the solution?

An injection into the space of a steroid.

The pain is gone, and I can walk nearly normally!

Lounge vibes work.....Thank all of you once again...

38. The doctor told me that it might be good for 6 months...
And there are follow-up injections that can be done.

Or I could opt for surgery to remove the spur...

All this I will discuss with my own orthopedic MD when I see him next week.

Right now, I have to tell you, 6 months looks damned near permanent to me!

28. I send you good vibes every day I'm on DU, Peggy, so I'll just have to send some extras.
I've had the kind of pain you've described before...also no idea of what caused it (it never came at the end of an "incident"...the pain was a sharp, stabbing pain in the kneecap, on straightening, just as you stated, and more often than not, as the symptoms appeared, they went away. Not gradually...they came suddenly, hurt like holy hell, and went away just as suddenly.

See a doc and I'll send the vibes.

32. It did go well, thank you...
...I didn't post anything yet because it ended with "I believe we are going to do this, we need to discuss it and make sure our funding is in place. I will call you in the next couple of days."

New clients seldom, if ever, make a decision in at the end of the first meeting. I have had it happen when there have been some intensive phone calls in advance of the first meeting, but only then. I've had two phone calls with the owner to date, both were in more of a "general overview" sense. Today she brought her partner and the three of us talked specifics for 90 minutes or so.

Rapport during the meeting was strong. We met at a Starbuck's (their choice). So as I have said many times, you take your victory laps when you are in the bank with the check in one hand and a deposit slip in the other. If this is a go, I intend to post it here and thank everyone for the vibes.

A SHOT IN THE KNEE!?!?!?!?!?! I've had a steroid shot in my shoulder and that hurt. I can't imagine how much a shot in the knee would hurt. I'm glad you're OK. Hopefully you'll get the spur taken care of before the steroid wears off.

I'd heard that they hurt too...I even asked the doctor about that.

He said (and he was telling me the truth, BTW) that I would feel the stick, and then some pressure...

That was ALL.

He did say the steroid would/could last 6 months...

We shall see...
