Yes Casey's dish sucked but Jamie had TWO suckie dishes

She's gotta have dirty pictures of Tom or Padma she's using as blackmail.

1. I don't recall her being that good
from her original time on Top Chef, do you? Seems like she had issues then, too, but I could be remembering wrong.

2. She was always getting by on the bare minimum
and she's doing the same thing this week. But this time some really good chefs are being sent home instead.

4. Neither Jamie or Casey
were going to win this so the only real issue is the order of their leaving, Jamie's days are numbered. Granted Casey is the better chef but not on this day you can't really ignore the fact that a room full of hungry people were leaving her food on the plate.

5. But here is devil's advocate
First Jamie refused to do front of house, so Casey was nice enough to volunteer and Antonia was the one that screwed up Casey's dish. Second - Jamie didn't make one but TWO bad dishes.

Jamie is just such a spoiled brat and I wish they would stop catering to her. "NO" I won't go first, "NO" I won't do front of house, "NO" I won't cook when there is a scratch on my finger (even though people like Antonia, Carla and Fabio have cooked with similiar and sometimes worse cuts).

Casey and Spike are way better cooks and yet they were forced out because Jamie is a baby who wants the attention of being in Top Chef but doesn't really want to cook.

Personally I would bring back Spike, Casey and Jennifer and let Jamie cook-off against them. Best one proves they should be in the game and the rest go home. Because all 3 of those people should NOT have gone home before Jamie!

6. The problem with that
Casey knew she was going to have to give up control of her dish and still went for something that was destined to become a clusterf***, it required way too much prep time and persnickety preparation. She should have gone with something like a take on a Lions Head Meatball where you can control the flavor profile before you leave to do front of house, it may not have won but it would have kept her solidly in the middle.

Unfortunately for Casey all the way up the decision tree she made the wrong ones ending up with an unforgivably inedible result.

11. She picked a very tedious dish to prepare & should never have volunteered to serve.
Plus, as we've seen earlier in the competition, when someone delegates their dishes to another chef, they get bitten. Big mistake for Casey to delegate such a tedious, high-maintenance dish to anyone else, particularly someone who had two dishes.

BUT, Jamie is WAY overdue for elimination. She's not all-star quality. I'm still furious that she made it hard on Jen the week Jen was eliminated.

7. I think the judges made the right decision in this case.
God. What a flustercluck. I can't wait to see Restaurant Wars with this bunch.

There were really no winners for me this week, although Fabio's ribs did look mighty tasty. The way food was expedited from the kitchen to dining room was totally inexcusable on the part of professional chefs.

Casey's dish was too complicated for someone inexperienced in Chinese cooking. It was inedible, and was left on the plate by many diners. That alone should send the chef home. Also, it was a poor choice to leave Antonia in charge of it -- she and Jamie seemed to be in their own little world in the kitchen.

And again -- ambition does a lot of people in on this show. Do one dish and DO IT WELL. More often than not trying to do two dishes (or more) does not work, and leads to failure. Just ask Jeff from the New York season. Sometimes less is indeed more, and vice versa.

That said, I am still amazed that Jamie is still around, especially when the judges didn't even taste what she did in the US Open challenge, and she practically hid from everyone else to avoid having to present it. Patently unfair -- just because the dish wasn't needed for the team win, that doesn't mean it should have gotten a pass with the judges. But her days are numbered because the cream is starting to come to the top. (Unless she becomes another Robin in Las Vegas, who overstayed her ability and welcome by weeks.)

8. In retrospect, this failure of Casey's was a recurring theme - she made
pork belly in her own season finale, which she admitted to having never tried before. Predictably, the dish failed, knocking her from contention for the win. Although, I have to admit, I tried making pork belly for the first time on Christmas Eve, and it came out great!

Later, as Carla's sous chef in that season's finale, she persuaded Carla to attempt cooking beef using the sous vide method, despite Carla's total previous lack of experience. Again, DISH FAIL.

Did Casey learn anything? Apparently not! She tried to cook another completely unfamiliar item for a room full of patrons she KNEW would not allow even the slightest margin of error for that dish. As if that wasn't bad enough, she more or less tossed it into poor Antonia's lap to finish it off.

Antonia was actually screwed by being placed into that bottom group. She had ties to both Casey and Jamie's dishes, although she didn't play the slightest role in their failure. Her own dish seemed to be perceived as pretty much excellent.

9. When I saw her cutting off the toenails of those feet
And two large bags of feet, I knew she made an insane choice and was destined for failure. Then to leave the cooking to someone else? Double insanity.

It seems like they always leave one of the really mediocre chefs around too long maybe as a hedge for one of those rare times when everyone's dishes are good and they have a hard time choosing, so it's sort of a easy choice that they leave around. Or not, who knows the minds of the TC judges.

10. I was hoping she would go home last night too
I'm not surprised they sent home Casey instead, given how inedible the chicken feet apparently were, but I was really hoping she'd squeak by.

Jamie was crafty in the last episode to hold her food back and was fortunate that they didn't get to the last pair of dishes, but aside from the first episode she has been skating this season ...
