Inmate to appear in Howard County court after feces incident

An inmate at the Patuxent Correctional Institution in Jessup may have been a little too attached to a certain item. So attached, in fact, that he allegedly assaulted a correctional officer when the guard tried to take the item away from him.

What was the item, you ask?

A ball.

Of human feces.

Darnell Thompson was discovered in his cell at the institution on the afternoon of July 12, 2009, rolling a ball of feces in his hand, charging documents state.

Three correctional officers tried to persuade him to dispose of the feces ball.

4. Perhaps he was aware that, in fact, you can.

It was featured in an episode of 'Mythbusters'.
Several days of careful hand-rolling can produce
a hard sphere as shiny as a billiard ball.

Their testing proved that primate feces
was a poor choice of material, but it's
probably all the guy had access to in prison.
Not many ungulates roaming the Yard, I reckon.

11. I may have mis-remembered earlier when I mentioned ungulates....

I'm thinking that they tried several varieties
obtained from a local zoo, and the one that worked best
was the feces from an African lion.

The feces from the zebras, wildebeest, & etc didn't work
because their diets included a lot of FIBERS that
got passed through into the 'finished product'.
