Note that lead guitar is Jeff Beck-Jimmy Page is playing bass.

Beck informed the band he was leaving, Page started on bass to get ready to replace him. Page had not played with a band in some time, spent the previous few years as a studio musician.
Later, Page bought the rights to the Yardbirds name after the band fell apart, and started the "New Yardbirds" to finish the previously booked concert appearances...this band changed their name to Led Zeppelin...

New Yardbirds live -London, 1968- "I Can't Quit You..."

7. Kicked and wrecked...
...I loves the Yardbirds.

I put forth Buffalo Springfield as the parallel American version of the Y-birds.

10. And one more, not from Jimmy, but from a pal of his, Les Paul ...
Les is playinbg in the Iridium club with his band in this short clip, doing "How High Tne Moon"...I believe he was 90 or 91 when this was recorded...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CNJ0txKXSo

Jimmy and Les met several times, and had been on some shows together...they seemes to get along very well. Jimmy was a real fan, and stole a bunch of Les's tricks, as you can se from this very short clip...
