Anyone still using an appliance from the 1950's? See my toaster
This is a sunbeam toaster I'm still using from the 50's. My roommate got it from his former MIL who is deceased. We have been using it without any problems since the 80's. The elegance, simplicity, and durability is second to none. The only knob on this toaster is for temperature control.

3. I have a pancake electric skillet that's older than me. It's at least 50 years old
But it still works. Apparently heating elements never go bad.

8. I have one too.
I got it from my mother-in-law when she went into the nursing home. It's chrome and cleans up easy.

9. My mom has one very similar to that from her mid-50s wedding.
She's had it repaired maybe twice.

Meanwhile, I'm on toaster number, oh, I don't know, six, maybe?

12. Most modern appliances compared to the older models...
are just junk.

Still using a waffle iron(one of those wedding gift specials)from the mid-30s. Had to rewire once...insulation burned where the wire connected with the heating elements.

Heavy metal and good chrome plating.

Bought a replacement(Black and Decker)a couple of years ago, was unhappy with it and rewired the old one then.
