Does anyone have the old (20 years+) "Star Trek: The Next Drinking Game" list?
The only two I remember out of it are:

"Take a drink whenever Picard says 'make it so'"

and

"Take a drink whenever Wesley saves the ship. Two if nobody thanks him."

1. I recall one of the two-part entries on that list
"Take a drink whenever someone addresses someone else by their first name."

"Take two if they do so while there's sexual tension in the air."

9. Did they EVER have sexual tension in the air on ST:TNG?
I just sort of assumed it was an editorial choice to have them all act emotionally stilted.

12. Lots between Beverly & Jean Luc
At least once between Data & Yar, and more than a few times between Riker & Troi.

13. You're describing romantic pair-offs, not tension.
There is, of course, quite a difference. The closest I ever saw to real on-camera chemistry on New Generation was when Picard and Alfre Woodard ran around killing all those robots. You could tell they'd rather be humpin like rabbits. Please note hitting that vibe required him to lose the rest of his crew.

14. In the early seasons the tension preceded the pair-offs
For instance, The Naked Now shows quite a bit of tension between Bev & Jean Luc, even though their romantic pair-off wouldn't take place for several years.

2. The one to get you knee walking drunk - "I'm a doctor, not a ..."
Or "He's dead, Jim." Two belts if someone in the crowd says, "Of course, he's dead; he's a red shirt."

Take a drink any time:

Kirk gets hysterical

Picard gets philosophical

Sisko gets pompous

Janeway gets pissy

Archer gets depress

16. I don't know anyone who ever played by the old rule set.
The most common variation was to pick a few phases per character. When they said those words, you either had to say them WITH the character, or take a shot if you missed it. Say the WRONG thing, and you have to take two shots.

The rate of drinking typically increased exponentially :)

7. Whenever the humans play poker with Data or Troi
Yeah, sure, Data couldn't possibly be counting cards and know what everyone's holding. And Deanna would never, ever use her powers to figure out if someone was bluffing or had a good hand.

8. It was unbelievable that Deanna was such a poor poker player
I've come to the realization that Deanna was little more than a fortune-telling charlatan who conned her way into Star Fleet.

While Data would kill at Blackjack (even seeing that once in http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/The_Royale_%28episode%29">one episode) card counting skills don't really help with poker because so few cards are seen. Anyone can—and should—remember the few folded hands in a stud game. Data's strength would be a perfect memory of everyone's range & betting patterns combined with perfect application of game theory.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mg8_cKxJZJY">Steven Hawking playing poker on Star Trek. Note that they had to use actors for Newton and Einstein as they were not available.:) "Wrong again, Albert!"

10. I phrased that badly
Data, with his perfect observation and recall, would know the order of the cards, even as they were shuffled. He would then know what cards were dealt and to whom just by sitting at the table. To overcome this, it would probably be necessary to deactivate him during the shuffle and deal, and reanimate him when the hands had been dealt.

11. Oh yeah, Data would kill at shuffle tracking
Either deactivation or the use of a shuffle machine would probably make it impossible for him to track the shuffle. But it gets worse: I'm not sure what his powers of perception were supposed to be but apparently he could see more of the E-M spectrum and in greater resolution than humans could. This means that he could in theory perceive the most minute of smudges and nicks to the cards allowing him to essentially "read through the backs of the cards." The use of burn cards can help offset this ability but even knowing the identity of a burn card (and that that card is destined for the muck) would still represent useful information not available to the other players.

Probably best to just not invite Data to the weekly senior staff game. Deanna's dead money, on the other hand, would be welcome anytime. :)
