Did not plan to buy a ham of any kind but what the hell.

Some of the ham will go into the lima beans pot tomorrow.

The cost without the card was $34.

I would not pay $34 for a 6 lb. ham.

2. I am getting the pot ready now.
It is a old pot, cooked a lot of beans during its lifetime.

I love lima beanss, with ham.

3. Wow. That's on par with Brazil supermarket prices. Fantastic deal.
And what's that "card" you speak of? Some discount club?

10. Although we have had typical January weather,
what with all that drizzly, cold rain recently. I remember it being that way decades ago, but in recent years there's been fewer rainy days in January and February.

Thankfully, I recently got my furnace fixed. My landlord had known it was out at least when it happened, about eight years ago, and forgotten about it in the years since. I wrote it up on my last blog entry, just because it was so typical of him and his cheap ways here...

7. Paid $1.99/lb for a spiral sliced one at Newflower last week.
$21.05 total. Cut it into three separate bags and put two of them and the bone in the freezer. someday i'll pull the bone out, throw it in the crockpot with some split peas and make soup.

9. This ham will go a long way.
I will cut it up also, mostly keep it for beans.

Not a major ham fan but pinto or lima beans need good ham.
