1. Is it a reboot or just a new print?

3. They're rebooting Superman (again) after only one movie
the last Superman with Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor was pretty crappy, IMO

And, Spider-Man 3 was a train wreck, so they probably figured it was better to start from scratch than to build on crap.

I'd love for a comic book hero to get James Bond like treatment, though...a continuing series over many movies. And, keep it to one main villain in each movie:

Spider-Man 1) Green Goblin
Spider-Man 2) Doctor Octopus
Spider-Man 3) Sandman
Spider-Man 4) The Lizard
Spider-Man 5) return of & death of Green Goblin
Spider-Man 6) never step on a Scorpion
Spider-Man 7) the Kingpin
Spider-Man 8) Kraven the Hunter
Spider-Man 9) Hobgoblin
Spider-Man 10) maybe a villain team-up where Kingpin uses somebody

Maybe in 11/12 you can think about bringing in Venom, or maybe Gwen Stacy dying in there somewhere in movies 6-10 or Black Cat...

4. Probably because they know they will make a boatload of money
And things like continuity and storyline and creativity and character development don't mean squat when compared to boatloads of money. But, I suppose it's better than just remaking the same movie with different characters, as long as there's some sort of new interpretation...
