I am glad Arcade Fire won the Grammy.
It is way better than the other shit that was nominated. So what if the unwshed masses had never heard of them? At least the voters have taste which is more than I can say for the vast majority of people who actually like Lady Gaga (WTF is that about anyway?).
I am willing to concede that I am a snob when it comes to popular culture. Things that are popular are by definition are utter shit(at least to me they are). This includes most music that is played on terrestrial radio (thank Cthulu for satellite radio and listener-supported stations, without which I might be forced to listen to dreck.)

So, while Arcade Fire is not my favorite band, I do like what they do generally and am glad that something not mass-produced or autotuned won for a change.

I am also very glad that the Carolina Chocolate Drops won in their category (something folk I think). That was a hell of an album too. On my top 10 for sure this past year. And Mavis Staples also won, another of my favorites.

I am a no taste, Lady Gaga lover, and proud of it!!!!! :bounce: ;)

Arcade Fire is pretty good. I actually listened to most of their songs after the Grammy's were over. They're not the kind of style of music I get into, but had some good songs. Was actually hoping Eminem would win. Thought his album was the best of those nominated in the Best Album category.

I also thought that Sade's Soldier of Love and Robyn's Body Talk were snubbed in the Best Album category.

6. It won
the Grammy for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group, and I think it was nominated in another category. Should have received more nominations, though.

2. I don't like Arcade Fire but I was glad to see a rock type band won.
Here's a radio station you might like. WBCN - Freeform Rock is a new HD radio station that is also available streaming online at http://wzlx.radio.com/wbcn/ (Click on the freeform option.) It's the return of a progressive rock station that started in 1968 in Boston that plays an eclectic mix of music, including lots of new stuff. It's where I've heard Arcade Fire and lots of other new bands.

They're on live with DJs from 11Am-2PM Mon-Fri, and run by computer the rest of the day and night. Great music all the way, and when it's live, they'll play your request (if they have it). Progressive political comments are made on occasion as well.

3. The Suburbs sold 156,000 copies the first week it was out.. Does that mean it's utter shit?
Still bitter that Slack Motherfucker wasn't nominated for Song of the Decade in the 90s

7. They're from here, so I guess that means I have to at least check out their album
Even though signs point to their being insufficiently headbanging for the mood I've been in lately.
