z.o.m.g. talk about your epic fail. where were you guys?
i got my ass kicked on that test. i would like to know where skittles was between noon and 1pm central time on monday.
so, i asked for vibes here but i got a whoopin' anyway.
the cs5 test was at least 10 times harder than the cs4 test. and it was hammering on the new stuff, some of which i have used, but much of which i just haven't had a reason to. there were almost no questions on any legacy functions. just new, new, new, down to workflows and which clinks to do specific photo retouching stuff.
so, it was a learning experience. i am kind of happy to know where my limits are, since i rarely hit them in my classes. i can take it as many times as i am willing to plunk down the dough. so, i will return.
next time i want a bigger posse, tho.

1. I'm sorry it didn't go well.
At least you did take something away from it, and you'll know what to expect next time.

7. i know what to expect, and where to get the info i need.
a lot will come from the photography class that i am taking, as i have never really used it for that, since i am not a photographer. i hope the instructor can use it better than she can talk about it, but at any rate i will be using it.
and i will be spending a lot of time at adobe tv.

2. Sorry to hear you didn't pass but...
.
.
.
...sometimes tests ARE good and helpful in showing us what we don't know that
we may probably need.
.
.
.
Next time, you'll be MUCH better prepared (and MUCH better at the craft you
hope to employ).
.
.
.
You don't sound disheartened. GOOD FOR YOU -- you run into a wall and you keep
running at it until you can vault or climb over it... or just plain knock it over with
determination and persistence.
.
.
.
This WILL happen.
.
:fistbump:

3. it is very valuable to me to know what i don't know.
i don't want to go in to an interview and claim to be a great photoshopper if i am only mediocre. scratching my way up to rock star status is fine with me, just want to know how high it is to the top of the hill.

btw, i got a 42%, you need 74% to pass. guess that makes me half a rock star.
(seriously, all the ads for these positions are asking for rock stars. does that mean there is hookers and blow in the green room?)

4. It is an employers market
You sound very reasonable, it is always good to know what you are capable of. Because they allow you to take the test as many times as needed, my feeling is a lot of people don't pass at first.

5. i'm sure not.
i keep trying to think of a way to get a couple of the people teaching photoshop where i am in school to take that test. i got a crisp $20 bill here that says some of them would not beat my score, and none of them would pass. i know none of them are up to speed on cs5. and the explanations for some of the functions i have heard have made me literally bite my tongue. i do understand that, since the whole problem with passing the test is that you don't use it with the part of your brain where the words are. it is visual and physical, not literal. at all. but that is what you get paid for if you are a teacher. :eyes:

9. must have gone to my school.
yup, that is what it is. and really, some upgrades have reeked. but this last one is a biggie, with lots of cool stuff. but the big, big thing is workflow, and making things a lot easier. after you figure it out, that is.
i am the tech support in my photography class, tho. argh.

11. Study, my dear mopinko!
I'll ...er, fluff it up for ya!

Now, don't delete my post for using this particular metaphor, OK? :scared:

I'm sorry you didn't pass...

It's beginning to start sounding like passing the CA bar exam...

You WILL get there, of this I have zero doubt!

:hi:

12. thank you. i will keep at it.
the certification should be valuable to me. even tho i am getting a piece of paper, it is not that rigorous of a program. this would really prove that i can do it. to myself, first of all.
