Poll question: Chocolate chip cookies with ....
My husband loves nuts. Loves them. I have to hide them or else he'll go through an entire bag of walnuts or pecans (the equivalent of eating gold) in one sitting. So, I usually put walnuts in salads (fantastic with gorgonzola) but I have bags of both right now. What goes into the cookies!

1. Where's the "ice cold milk" choice?
That's what I want with my chocolate chip cookies... ice cold skim milk.

It's not uncommon to use walnuts in tollhouse cookies. Just chop them kinda small and mix them into your cookie batter at the end. Walnuts work well with tollhouse cookies - brownies too, for that matter.

Use pecans with ice cream.

3. Is ice cold soy milk OK?
Actually, neither of us drink milk much except in coffee/tea or in cereal... chocolate makes me very thirsty, though, and I usually have ice water on hand.

Hmm. Is that standard baking/dessert knowledge about walnuts and pecans? My mom wasn't much of a baker and there are some huge gaps in my food knowledge.

6. I don't know much about baking but I do know how to eat.
And pralines (aka pecans) are a natural with ice cream. Also, as it happens I used to work at a hotel chain that had as a signature service a customary large cookie which was presented upon check-in, to give the guest that special sense of being comfortable and welcome. And that signature cookie was a black walnut-chocolate chip cookie, and it tasted VERY good.

My mom liked walnuts and used them in this and that. Not bad in pancakes, for example, in small amounts and finely chopped.

2. Toast the nuts first
Once I did that, I can no longer use them without toasting them first. It adds a whole other dimension to the already awesomeness of the nuts.

Dry hot pan on stove, or can be done in the oven. Just watch them and don't overroast.

10. walnuts are the more traditional, but pecans are good too
I personally wouldn't use both. Also unlike above, I like the nuts in pretty big pieces, myself.

13. Neither, neither, neither. You have bags of both, you have a
husband who loves them just the way they are, so do the cookies right and give him a bowl of nuts. He will be happy, and I will be happy. Hey, where are my cookies? I'll have a large glass of milk with them please.
