Oh, hell, it's snowing again.
Another 14" on its way.

Maybe I'll go back to bed. Wake me when it's April.

4. I have no idea why my doctor moved from Minnesota
Edited on Sun Feb-20-11 04:45 PM by TZ
to Arizona...no idea at all....:P
Oh yeah, and IIRC, my first visit to Minnsota was in the third week of April, and while nice while I was there, ended up with snow on the ground the day I left so I think you should make that wake you in May.....

5. I was lucky enough to escape the worst of it
Flew to MKE this morning for a short turn before ending the trip in ATL. We got into MKE early. I messaged the dispatcher to see if the company would approve an early departure because of the weather coming in. Naturally, they wouldn't. The snow and ice pellets started about 10 minutes before pushback, and came down heavy enough to require de/anti icing. What should have been a quick 5 minute taxi out turned into 35 minutes of fun and games.

FWIW, it's 76 degrees and sunny here in DFW.

:hi:

I say this with the utmost respect to you, Velveteen Ocelot...no harm intended, but I just had to get that out of my system...and also, it was just a gentle reminder of what could have been the winters I remember years ago...and this past season just wasn't one of them

8. The summers aren't like that in Minnesota.
We get warm weather but the really hot, humid streaks don't last long. We don't drag around all summer with our clothes stuck to us. I like summers here. As for this winter -- it hasn't been horrendously cold, like it used to be in the '70s, but the amount of snow has been rather abnormal. And annoying. So please forgive me, but I *am* gonna whine about it, and dream of another gorgeous Minnesota summer.

9. You should have that memory checked then.
Because you seem to have forgotten things that happened a couple of weeks ago
http://www.accuweather.com/blogs/news/story/44999/snowstorm-shatters-new-york-ci.asp
Many cities broke snowfall totals that have stood FOR OVER 100 YEARS.
But hey, meterologists who keep records clearly are idiots right?
You win for the dumbest post of today..this has been one of the worst winters in 20 years at least. But if it suits you Rush, we'll just all shut up and let your personal beliefa stand, reality not being important.

18. I was checkin' out driving conditions on I-95 for this weekend.
It still looks cold from Fredericksburg, Va all of the way up to Maine until Monday of next week. As of Monday it'll be warmer in NY.

I drive escort for oversize trucking loads. So I'm away more than I'm home. I truly hope to be at our house in upstate NY (near Woodstock) long enough to see the flowers and trees I've planted over the last 15 years in full bloom to greet this springtime.

19. I hate snow, but I'd take a few inches of that from you now if
I could. Our Acting Superintendent of the school district stated that he will not close the schools even one single day no matter the weather. Now, our school district only uses buses for handicapped and ES students; every other STUDENT walks...but the teachers drive, some for quite a distance.

The school board is currently trying to retract the contract just signed in October (which was done a year after the last contract expired). There is little love lost at this point, and the Acting Superintendent keeps making nasty comments about how he could do this or that about the teachers....and he used to be a teacher himself, for many years, that's the sickening part.

So, he said he won't close schools for bad weather.....why? Is he hoping someone will get killed coming to work, and then he won't have to lay them off?

We are supposed to get 5-8 inches tonight. I'd like to see a foot or more, and then see him not close the schools, and then let the parents go at him. I did get an opportunity last snow fall to mention his policy to two parents, and they were incredulous.

22. It takes pressure from parents to get things changed.
They will never change a policy to protect teachers. We have to go in on time even if there is a delay. The delay is for the buses, not for staff. I "love" risking my life while driving to school on unplowed roads to get there and find out that school has been cancelled! Then I have to turn around and drive home on the same treacherous roads.

I don't know why superintendents trade in their brains for that certificate.

21. We are really getting pelted in SW PA!
It started as sleet this afternoon and now we are getting blasted with heavy snow. Not sure how many inches as it is blowing sideways! The TV weather people said it would be out of here tomorrow morning though. Anywhere from 3 to 6 inches?

Stay warm in your neck of the woods, liberaltrucker! :hi:
