Poll question: Top Chef Fans time to dish! Who do you think is going to win it all
I still think it's gonna be Carla but Dale has really impressed me alot! Who is your choice to win (and who should go home tonight - I think it'll be either Tiffani or Mike I).

It seemed like early on in the show the women were going to extinct themselves but personally I think Carla and Antonia have had some strong cooking down the stretch.

I saw the previews for tonights episodes and it looks like they might be bringing back some of the previous contestants. PErsonally I think Spike was screwed when he was sent packing - everyone knows that Jamie's beans would have sucked wretchedly IF she had been picked to serve her dish.

1. Heart says Carla; head says Dale.
Tonight's episode does look interesting.

And yes, Spike went home way too soon, thanks to Jamie and her incredible ability to make herself invisible.

2. I kinda hope that tonight's episode will allow one of them to come back
Jenn was also sent home way too early again because of Jamie's trickery (yes she cut her finger but Antonia and Fabio have sliced their fingers and yet they finished their cooking)

3. I hope so too.
But typically there are so many strings attached to this largesse that it's almost impossible for someone who's been kicked off to come back.

I've seen the commercials for this, but I can't tell if all of the kicked-off chefs are back, or just some of the more recently departed. Lots of teasers in those promos -- hope some pan out.

5. I still think it will be Richard, though Dale and Antonia are really close
In fact, it's beginning to look like the season finale is going to be all Season Four.

I would love for Carla to win it all, but she just can't do fast. When she has time to showcase her technique, she knocks it out of the park. On gimmicky challenges like last week, we see what happens, and I just know there will be one or two more of those before the end.

As for who to go next, Mike or Tiffany (not Tiffani, who was already eliminated).

6. I wanted Jenn - I can't stand Dale -
but Carla bugs me too. I cook with LOOOOOOOOOVVVVVE, too, but it's not enough to land me on "Top Chef". I wish she'd stop saying that!!!!

I guess I want Richard, Antonia, or Tiffani at this point. Dale and Mike are too obnoxious.

7. I HOPE Tiffany goes home soon!
Edited on Wed Feb-23-11 08:48 PM by davsand
I've thought she needed to go home for a while now. Frankly, I thought she needed to go home before even Jamie did--so you KNOW how little I think of her!

As for who I think will win, I figure the final will come down to Richard, Antonia, and Dale with a finish in that order. I think all three are all good cooks, but I think Blaise is a cut above the rest because he's got such a sense of fun with his food--while he still makes it taste good. Carla is an excellent cook, but I think her fatal flaw will end up being her inability to stay 100% focused on the food. Last week was a great illustration of that when she spent (wasted) all that time looking for a freaking table cloth.

13. **spoiler** shocked the bejesus out of me
Dale has performed very well overall this season and had even won both the Quickfire & Elimination Challenge the previous week. I understand that the judges make their decisions based on that week's performance but I honestly think one of the best cooks was sent packing.

And Dale is an amazing person, I remember during his season I thought he was the biggest asshole but this season I thought he really grew up alot and turn out to be an amazing person. Marcel could have learned alot from Dale about maturity.

14. Did me, too.
But when you bury the showpiece of your dish, you're not staying.

I'm not a fan of Dale's but I do respect his talent.

And as for Marcel, he's a jerk. Period. I wouldn't have trusted him to do anything for me other than take my dirty pots to the sink. Tiffany took a huge risk in letting him prepare the dish without her at least tasting it before serving it.

Carla -- she really needs to get it together if she wants to stick around. Last night was her forte and she blew it in both rounds. Not good.

Now that my favorite is out, I think I'll have to go with Richard for the win, given this show's tendency to favor male chefs over women. I would really like to see Antonia because she works hard and generally produces solid dishes.

10. right now I'm pulling for Antonia
She's had a weird couple of quickfires -- last week Elmo told her that her cookie looked like a cow patty and this week Paul Deen told her she'd like to take her over the knee and "whip her cute little ass."

I think Richard has been the strongest this season overall, but he may still slip up in the next couple of episodes ...

11. Richard needs to be more than a one-trick pony with the damn nitrogen
I realize that's his thing but it's annoying.

16. I'm surprised they sent Dale home.
He's good. He was one of the best there was left.

Now, I'm pulling for Richard.

What really annoyed me was that Dale wasn't sent home when he served that salty dish a couple of weeks ago, yet Angelo got sent home last week because his dish was too salty. :wtf:

23. According to Tom Colicchio's blog on Bravotv.com...
http://www.bravotv.com/top-chef/season-8/blogs/tom-colicchio/from-beef-tongue-to-burgers-chicken-pot-pie-to-cheese-sauce

<<Two of our three bottom dishes failed to do so. I’ll discuss them in a moment. Before people get up in arms that we didn’t send Dale home for over-salting his dish, let me remind you that everything is a question of degree. When Jen was sent home for her overly-salty duck in Season 6, she was one of the final four, the other three dishes showed incredibly skill, and hers was salted past saving. It was inedible. Dale’s was not inedible, merely too salty. The flavors were great, and the whole dish well-conceived. Had Dale not forgotten that the pretzels were salted, the dish may well have sung. People could eat and genuinely enjoy it for a time… until the salt eventually got the better of them. It was salty enough to land Dale in the bottom three, but in this particular challenge against the other dishes we were served, it was not enough to get him sent home.<<

Angelo's dish, apparently, was inedible.

17. My thoughts..
Mike I...I wanted to reach through the screen and slap the smugness right out of him. You don't do that to your fellow chefs. That was totally low. He needs to take his big mouth cheating ass home.

As for the winner I'm guessing it will be Richard. I don't care for him and I think he is too stuck on the nitrogen...I mean really...fried mayonnaise? Ugh....talk about sucking up to Paula "Hey ya'll" Deen. Gross! And this is coming from a Southern girl who loves mayonnaise..that was nasty!

I miss Fabio! Was so happy to see him last night. And dammit Top Chef...Keep Marcel off the damn show! We're sick of him already!

Richard was stupid and showed other contestants, the very people he's competing against, his ideas.

It was stupid and Mike was smart to use them. I would've done the same.

22. You're right -- you don't show your playbook to the opposing team.
But the other chefs' reaction summed it up. There's man's law, and chef's law. It was poor chef etiquette. Just because it was wide open to Mike didn't mean he had to take it and run with it. But all's fair and all that stuff.

because they didn't want Marcel.

26. i really thought dale could go all the way
he is much more likeable than his original season and i do think he's matured a lot, i was sad to see him go.

i was on the tiffani train last season, but she just hasn't impressed me much. i can't remember the last time she wasn't on the bottom.

blaise is getting a bit boring and mikey needs to be smacked around a bit.

as much as i would LOVE to see carla win, i just don't know that she can deal with the pressure. i'm fine with antonia taking it, i watched her season not a long ago and wondered why i didn't appreciate her as much the first time around.

it's nice to see this many women this close to the finale.
