Are Crocs the greatest shoe ever invented?

I love them!

I have pairs in black, dark blue, pink, and mixed yellow and green school colors. They are so comfortable I can walk forever and they slip on ease.

Knock offs, of course, less than eight dollars a pair, usually. I am not a chump.

Because you have no sense of whimsy.

My opinion - If it makes me grin it's alright by me.

19. i'm not saying i have impeccable fashion sense
and i don't mean to judge you. but crocs are about as whimsical as sweatpants, or bottom-shelf gin, or wetting the bed.

Giving up would be wearing faux Crocs from Payless.

22. Hey!
I own a pair of those AirWalk crocs. They're wonderful! I don't drive and therefore walk pretty much everywhere I need to go. My fake crocs are a freaking godsend.

24. Ha!
Thing is, I rarely wear dresses. I work from home and I don't really have much of a social life. I used to be more shoe crazy when I young. I still love shoes, I just don't buy them very often.

My most treasured are my two pairs of vintage Spring-O'-Lators - one covered with a blue glitter finish and the other with a red metallic finish. I wore the hell out of those when I was a party girl.

Example of Vintage Spring-O'-Lators:

3. They are hideous, but they are also the most comfortable shoes ever.
I do not wear them for formal occasions, but they're great for knocking around in the garden.

8. Formal? LOL No.

My yellow and green crocs look like gardening shoes when I put them on but they are school colors in a big-time school supporting town so everyone else seems to love them (except the people wearing orange and brown crocs, the rival school colors.)

5. um...no
I had to buy a pair recently because I was wearing boots with heels and they had a ropes course at this place I wanted to go on. They sold the things cheap there. They're plastic, they made my feet sweat even with socks and they have absolutely no support at all.

They might serve a functional purpose if I was working in a muddy garden because they could just be hosed off. But I can't imagine wearing them in public again.

10. I never understood until fairly recently why someone would spend over $12 for a pair
When you can get them for $1.

I bought a pair for a price that made me cough. TWO YEARS ago. They are great. They stay on. I can't kick them off my feet and the padding has not worn down at all.

11. yeah - in this case you get what you pay for..
I splurge on shoes with no hesitation. I am on my feet sometimes 12 hours and more. A good "croc" has arch support and plenty of "spring" -- you wanna wear a thin cotton anklet with it and get the right size. Maybe they are funny looking but, I have seen funnier.

12. I love crocs, but no knockoffs
The real thing is more pliable and malleable. And if you buy the right kind for summer, they have ventilation.

And for those who think they have no style -- you just haven't visited the web site and looked around.

15. I have that exact shoe in tan, not a knockoff, and
my feet sweat so bad in them. I don't know where the ventilation it, it is all rubber/plastic surrounding the foot. I'm not a fan. But on the other side of it, I thought they were cute.

16. I have these ones:
Edited on Fri Feb-25-11 09:40 PM by noamnety
gray canvas uppers with the croc insole, machine washable

and a plain black pair from the rx line - which I cannot recommend strongly enough for anyone dealing with plantar fasciitis.

There's a world of difference between the real ones and the knockoffs.

33. They're incredibly comfy & very light weight
as in they weigh almost 0. That's why so many folks who walk the Camino de Santiago use them as their 2nd pair of shoes.

34. Crocs are great.
I ended up wearing nothing but crocs pretty much for a couple years. Then I got to wanting some better leather shoes instead. Crocs without holes do make your feet sweat, and crocs WITH holes -- well, they kinda let the SNOW in! ; )

37. They are ugly but grow on you. Here's a pic of my winter crocs...
Edited on Sat Feb-26-11 01:57 PM by Dappleganger

I have a couple of other pairs and if you are into gardening they're comfy and easy to clean (the ones with no holes). However, I hate seeing so many school kids wear them as they aren't sturdy (as in will stay on your feet while running). Our youngest son slid on some wet tile while wearing crocs (his favorite orange pair!) and broke his arm several years ago.

When I broke one of my pinky toes that was when I started wearing them, btw--great for people with hurting feet.
