At which age do you become secure enough with your views, likes and
proclivities to stop wearing T-Shirts that proclaim your affinities....

1. Maybe at 100. I feel as if it is a constant protest
to wear a t-shirt with a message.

2. I don't see how posting on a place like DU is any different.
If we're really secure with our views, then this thinking suggests that we shouldn't share them, yet DU is full of those of us who do. Perhaps it's not insecurity that drives people to proclaim their affinities, but a desire to share something, be it a political thought or a band or whatever.

Having said that, the only shirt I have with a statement on it says, "Fuck Everything".

5. Passive, maybe, but seen by more people. It can lead to
a started conversation. And that can lead to active engagement with others.

I just realized I've probably reached the age where I want a t-shirt
that proclaims, "I'm the one your granddaughter warned you about."

9. Are you sure it's the shirt and not a lack of pants?

10. I don't think so -- at least, nobody is commenting about that directly.

11. I'm finally secure enough
to wear anything I want (as long as it won't embarrass me too badly or get me arrested).

12. Good question
I used to wear those sorts of shirts all the time, but now tend to wear them only if I know I'm not really going out anywhere.

There are some exceptions. I have some political/social shirts that I still wear because I think the message is important.

My "Supreme Corp" shirt is one of my current favorites.

13. At the same age
I became secure enough to not give a crap what anyone else thought of what my shirts proclaim or fail to proclaim.

When I was younger I did once buy a che t-shirt.

Wore it once.

Then I started doing some thinking, which lead to reading. At which point I realized that I had mentally mixed up Caesar Chavez and Che somehow. And I have not had any luck finding a Chavez profile shirt.

Its a damn shame too, because that shirt is, in my opinion, a fabulous color on me. I keep it around to remind me of my eventual goal of getting a Chavez shirt.
