Wow, I'm actually in a new Hollywood movie!
I've ended up on the cutting room floor on other projects I've worked on. But I got an email yesterday from a friend asking me if I was in the movie "Cedar Rapids" because there was someone who looked exactly like me in the movie. I was stunned to say the least. Okay, I'm just an extra, but I can't wait to see myself on the silver screen!

7. Heard on local radio (in Iowa) that 'Cedar Rapids' was shot in Michigan
something to do with certain shots looked better in Michigan plus Iowa was in the midst of a big scandal in their movie promoting administration.
IIRC they did a few overview shots in CR then headed to Michigan

8. They shot a lot of it here in Michigan
Mainly because Michigan offered film companies a 42% tax credit. They were originally going to film in Cedar Rapids, but we beat them by a few % points. The film industry has been going gangbusters since they started offering it two years ago. A whole bunch of movies have been shot here recently including Gran Turino and Up in the Air. But now our new bonehead Republican governor is planning on ending it, which will effectively kill this new business. What a jackass! I could go on ranting, but I'll spare you!
