Poll question: OK Red Sox fans/masochists - vent your angst NOW, not in September
Which of these names brings up the most pain & angst (details welcomed):

*Disclaimer: I grew up watching Ted Williams & The Mick at Fenway, and hereby claim the longest-running Bosox nightmare in DU.

2. Gotta go with Bill B.
But I can say that time heals all wounds....I kinda feel bad for Bill, this one play will totally blot out what was a pretty damn fine career.

4. Buckner
Not a Red Sox fan but I loathed the 86 Mets, that inning is etched in my memory but Bill Buckner takes more heat then deserved. Bob Stanley had two outs, gave up three hits and threw a wild pitch that tied the game. Buckner's knees were shot, he was a defensive liability and it was a poor decision from the manager to even have him in there. Of course the Red Sox then blew a three run lead in game 7.

5. I saw an interview with Buckner a few years ago
and it's clear that the guy is haunted. He made a brave face showing of his car dealership, his getting-on-with-life, the number of people that are reasonable and supportive, but the subtext of his every gesture and stare was "Oh, fuck me."

6. For some strangly masochistic reason
I watched highlights of game seven from the Yank-Me's/Red Sox series on NESN the other night. It still hurt!! Buckners faux pas, I got massively drunk right after (my friends still relive my catonic state)and I still cringe at the mention of Bucky F**kin Dent.
