My second ticket ever.. for anything... I Forgot to put on my god-damned seat belt when I left the grocery store a block away, and as I turned into my driveway, a motorcycle cop "whooped" me:)

he told me it was "seatbelt day"...isn't that nice:)

For ages I drove a car that had an automatic seatbelt, and I am famous for forgetting.. hoo boy..I'll never hear the last of this by my husband:rofl:

3. Yes.. it has happened to me before.
This has happened to me at least twice. I live in town, but on a back road (very little traffic). One time my car was parked on the grass on my property and I got a ticket for not parking in the direction of (non-existent) traffic. I didn't know it mattered what direction I park my car in on my own property. Also, I think I was ticketed once for parking on the road front of my house during the winter. Apparently, you can't park with any bit of your tire on the road over night from Dec 1 - Apr 15 regardless of whether it is snowing (which it wasn't that day). There's no sign on my road that says this, so it is just some city wide rule that residents have to learn the hard way, I guess.

4. The dumbest ticket I ever got was for parking in front of my neighbor's coal chute.
Mind you, this neighbor hadn't burned coal for thirty years.

As a California kid new to the Midwest, I was :wtf:

With an affidavit from my neighbor I was able to contest the ticket.

I still think it was some kind of joke. Or maybe a parking enforcement officer was having a flashback to 1950.

Sorry about your seatbelt ticket. I was at a stoplight once, cars stopped in front of me and in back of me, and I unbuckled my seatbelt to reach down and grab some papers that had fallen off the passenger seat. Sure enough a highway patrolman noticed this as he was driving by, turned around, and pulled me over.

I'm still angry. I guess that's what happens when the state is broke.

6. Wow... that's a reach.
I heard there's still a law on the books in Ohio that drivers of motorcars have to have somebody running in front of the car with a lantern when driving at night.

If you get busted for that, you know the cop has it in for YOU!

8. Parking in your drive way and driving on the parkway?
Seems like you could have gotten worse tickets.

9. A friend of mine got a ticket for a car in his driveway
because it didn't have an up-to-date inspection sticker. The car had not been driven in years.

12. My car makes it impossible to drive without putting the seatbelt on.
I'm wondering if this is a feature of all newer cars. The car annoys the living shit out of you until you buckle it up. It DOESN'T stop. It will quit beeping for a few seconds, but then it will start up again. PEEEEEP PEEEEEP PEEEEEP PEEEEEP PEEEEEP, until your ears start bleeding. I've found that this is actually a good feature. I wear my belt all the time now...
