Does anyone own a juicer?
if so, do you use it often, do you like it?

(i mean not a citrus juicer, but one that you can juice apples/carrots etc in)

6. They are all a pain to clean
little bits of pulp stuck in the grinder.

13. I have a Breville that is absolutely a breeze to clean. Just 2 minutes to clean.
I can't say enough about it. It is a fantastic design and wrings out every little piece of juice. For the longest time I used to discard the pulp but now I eat as it cuts down on the number of apples I juice. Apple and carrot pulp is really delicious eaten raw or add the carrot pulp to a soup or stew. However I do keep the two pulps seperate.

18. Mine's a Breeville, too, and it is one of the best to clean.
I went through a few, and shopped obsessively before I bought this one, because it was easy to clean and because the mouth was large enough that I didn't have to chop apples into tiny bits before juicing.

The pulp can be used for all sorts of stuff. It's great to make veggie broth, for instance--you can mix the pulps for that--or carrot cake, or muffins and pancakes and such stuff.

really IS a pain to clean up after.

3. I used to have one -- LOVED carrot/apple juice (heavy on the apples)...
.
.
.
...but they ARE a real chore to clean.

Tried making my own V-8 juice once (as I love it but WAY too much salt) and
the parsley juice was this absolutely GORGEOUS shade of emerald green -- so
pretty that although I had been warned that it was very bitter, I made and
put in too much and ruined the overall result.

5. I don't know if we still have ours.
We hardly ever used it. I takes like a bag of oranges and an hour of work to make a quart of juice, not including clean up.

7. Used to use it quite often... but...
nowadays you can buy a variety of fresh juices in the market so I do that. My juicer is up on the top shelf in the cupboard... gathering dust.

carrot, apple, parsley, beet. so healthy.

(and yeah, they are kind of a pain to clean)

8. I use a Hamilton Beach single-serve blender
Works brilliantly (especially as there's only one of me) and cleans up readily. http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=hamilton+beach+single+serve+blender&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=17337559536175307855&sa=X&ei=6xiSTbuOJqqD0QGM3eXMBw&ved=0CDYQ8gIwAA# The lid has split a bit, so not the sturdiest thing you'll ever encounter, but it still works.

10. I bought one. Was noisy and wasted so much mulch. You need tons
of fruits and veggies to make the smallest glass of juice. I used it a few times then ignored it.

11. We had one and used it for maybe 2 seasons. I think we threw it out when we cleaned out the basement

It was a PITA to clean, and took lots of whole produce to make very little juice. We got huge baskets of tomatoes and fruits from the farmers to make juice, but it was just too much trouble.

You are better off just buying fruits and veggies and eating them...

12. Yes, I agree with all the other posters here.
They are a bitch to clean. I love carrot juice, but it takes over a pound of carrots to make just one glass. It's much easier to buy carrot juice in the supermarket.

14. I have a Champion Juicer.
It was expensive almost 20 years ago. I use fairly often. When I make carrot/apple juice I use the pulp for muffins or fruit bread. It's a chore to clean up but I don't find it to be bad enough that I'd quit using it.

15. I have a vitamix
I gave up on juicers for many of the reasons upthread. The blender is easy to clean, does not require a ton of fruits and veggies, and creates excellent juice (with pulp).

16. I had one and it worked really well until I tried to juice a shoe...
Oxy and Tequila are a powerful, mind-altering combination of ingested substances that usually result in poor life decisions.

17. I own one. I've used it at times. I like it, except when I'm not using it.
I'll go through stages when i use it a lot. Carrot-apple-celery juice, usually. When I'm using it, I'm on a health kick, and so I feel great--whether the juicer adds to that or not, I couldn't say. When I'm not using it, it takes up a lot of counter space (get a large one--the small ones are pains to use and clean).
