2. Just be sure to have the second one on if you have to boot in safe mode or anything.
The first monitor is usually HDMI now and the secondary is VGA. At least on my system, if you have to boot into safe mode the HDMI monitor is completely blank (while a VGA is plugged in) and all of the command line display is directed to the secondary until you get to the "windowy" stuff. Seems a bit weird, but that's how it works and it confused the piss out of me the first time. I tend to keep the secondary turned off unless I'm programming or doing something like sorting files between two Windows Explorer windows (PERFECT time to use two monitors).

5. It is very cool
I love doing it with my Mac, especially since it "knows" what to do as soon as you plug in that second monitor.
