Crazy things you've done purely for the experience.
I once rode a Greyhound bus 29 hours from NY to IL just to experience what travelling cross-country by bus was like. I actually didn't think it was all that bad. Good way to see the country. But it's definitely not for anyone who likes their creature comforts, or can't sleep in an upright position.

When I lost my job a couple years ago, I had some money saved up, so that night I packed a bag and left the next day for a week long New England road trip. Visited old friends, drove around for entire days, slept on people's couches or in whatever motels I could find. Man, that was some fun.

Coming to Japan would be first by far, except for that fact that I also did it because I needed a job.

3. where you at in Japan?
Your trip to NE sounds pretty cool - I've never roadtripped like that, and I wish that I had at some point in my life. Mom and I took a driving trip out to Wyming a few years ago, but road tripping with one's mother isn't quite the same as just packing up and *road tripping*. It was fun, but not the kind of fun a young male is capable of having.

7. Nagano Prefecture
Waaay up in the mountains.

I did a few road trips with Mom too. One I particularly remember was taking four days off to look at colleges after I dropped out the first time. It does tend to cramp your style a bit. Meet a girl and you'd better hope she'll bring you back to her place. Then there's little matter of temporarily "disappearing" so you can call Mom and explain to her why you won't be coming back the hotel that night. On the other hand, there's the little bonus that moms usually insist on paying for everything (at least mine did).

I let myself get dragged into some really ugly, nasty flame wars. :nuke::nuke::nuke:

10. Yup. Those are my guys.
Quite a pair they are. Two devils, especially the cat. They only look innocent in the picture. The most hilarious is when they use each other to steal food.

16. Usually the dog distracts while the cat snags the food.
Classic Garfield & Odie routine. The other thing they do is if you leave something out on the counter, the Goerge (the cat) knocks it off for Prince to eat.

14. Hmmm
I once sold everything I owned except what fit in a backpack, a pair of skis, and a mandolin. Then the backpack got stolen, but that wasn't in the original plan.

17. "shoot" beer
.
.
.

this was decades ago,

For those that are wondering what the heck -

You punch a hole in the bottom of a beer can

Tilt your head back and suck on the hole as hard as you can

Then snap the tab open

Zoom - a whole beer in 2 seconds -

4 of those in 10 minutes, and you're on your way!

Only did it the one time tho . .

But got blasted pretty quick!

. . :silly: . .

18. skydiving, gliders, balloons
Gliders were the most fun. Nothing but the sound of the air going by at altitude.

20. Crept up behind a daydreaming skunk....
and yanked it's tail, and fled. When I turned over to look a few meter away, the skunk had sprayed a nearby Racoon. A case of mistaken identity.
