Decorah Eagles - social stream is on at night again.
Because I'm on the wrong side of the world, I mostly get to watch the eagles at night or very early morning, so the chat room is off. But the social streaming is now on again - apparently it was disabled for a while because of trolls, but now people can talk to each other at night again. I've been able to learn some things that were puzzling me, like why the parents are now deserting the nest at night - it's because the eaglets can now regulate their own body temperatures, so mum and dad watch from a branch higher up the tree. The little ones still like to cuddle up together though, but every now and then one gets slapped in the face with a wing.

One of the eaglets pooped on the camera, so we miss a bit of the picture, but it's incredible how fast the eaglets have grown already, and seems like every day they have more black feathers (except for E3, who's still mostly white). I watched E1 early in the morning, and he was standing right up and spreading his wings - they say his wing-span is now 3' already.

Also learned that this pair have successfully fledged all of their offspring so far, not always the case. Another couple of months to go – I can't imagine how crowded that nest is going to be.

1. I didn't know that about the parents hanging out on a higher branch.
Was wondering where they went at night.

Thanks!

2. They don't go far,
because eagles don't have good night vision. Something else I've learned from the social stream.
