New, annoying neighbors....HELP
1. They decide to start moving in at 9:45 p.m. on a Sunday night. 5 trucks...whooping it up....laughing...I had to slam my window shut. They didn't get the message.

1. Their landscapers came today. My fiance found about 2 Glad trash bags full of dead, cut grass in our yard....all over the patio, in our rose garden, in the bark and in 2 of our raised gardens. Took him 2 hours to clean...not to mention that he slipped on the wet patio tiles and now has 4 HUGE gashes in his leg....I'm talking gauze and tape gashes.

3. We went to bed tonight. THERE IS FREAKING DEAD GRASS IN MY MASTER BEDROOM. We left the window open today, as the weather was nice. Those assholes blew dead grass into my house.

I went over to ring their bell and try to be nice about it...no answer. But hey, they have managed to leave their 2 little dogs in the backyard, alone, for the past 3 nights.

Any advice...other than torching their freaking house???

1. got a leafblower?
Take the leafblower and bags of dead grass, go out to sidewalk in front of their house, dump grass, blow the grass all over the front of their house with the leafblower. Preferably, do this at 4:30 am. It's nice to return things to people; they lost their dead grass, you're just helping get it back to them.

3. I wish I had a leaf blower, but we won't get one.
We rake the cut grass and put 12 in our compost pile and the other 1/2 into a plastic bag and into the dumpster.

Can you imagine going to shut your bedroom window and finding enough dead grass clippings that you have to pull out your vacuum???

I feel for the dogs out in the cold all night.

Yippee! We have had such great neighbors...until now!

but it doesn't look like they are staying there yet. That is what really pissed me off about the dogs being kept in the dirt yard.

I almost wanna go get them and bring them into my house for the night. :-(

5. Not a great first impression
It seems like they are careless, thoughtless and messy people. Maybe it's just hectic for them with the move. Maybe not.
This seems like something you need to deal with quickly.
Next time you see them, go over and talk to them about your concerns (I know you already tried). Maybe they will be responsive.

6. Crank up some really terrible country music and sit in the yard in an undershirt drinking shit beer
and tossing the empties randomly into their yard. Get a couple packs of Camel unfiltered cigarettes, smoke each one down to about half and flick it into their yard. Bonus points if you have a BB gun and shoot at the empty beer cans. Don't worry about finding bad country music - that's pretty easy. Your local country station will supply plenty of it along with really loud and stupid pickup truck commercials.

It might be worth it anyway.

And why wait for the weekend? 11:00 on a Tuesday night sounds like a good time.

16. I live in a mobile home park with a lot of Hispanic neighbors.
The next door neighbor would blast his Spanish music while he was outside. It would drown out my TV. So, I bought a cheap boom box, put a heavy metal rock CD on, placed on my window sill and blasted it. It took a couple of times doing this when he finally got the message.

8. Ugh
Life is too short to be on bad terms with your neighbors unless you are prepared to move. Why add stress and discord to your life? I;ve read too many awful stories about neighbors making each others' lives miserable. I would appeal to their better natures. Bring them a plate of cookies or a small flower arrangment to welcome them to the neighborhood. If you start out being polite to them hopefully they will remember their manners and treat you in kind. It is hard to be rude to someone who has befriended you. If you have to mention what the landscapers did blame the situation on the landscapers not on them.

44. if this is about dogs call animal control
your complaints are pretty all over the place but if you are worried about the dogs being left alone 24/7 this is not anything DU can help you with, it's a complaint to be phoned in to animal control

if you really want to start shit w. your neighbors you can use your own phone to call it on, because they WILL find out who ratted them out

otherwise i would borrow the phone of a friend who lives far distance to phone in it and when they cry to you that someone turned them in just be all shocked and "oh what a shame, they took your dogs away, bless your heart!"

14. I'm hoping, for your sake, that's it's the period of moving in...and that
they may just not realize how non-neighborly they are being. When our neighbors moved in next door, they kept putting out their new appliance wrappings on the side of the house. Well, Houston being subject to Gulf breezes, most of it ended up in my yard. Once they had "settled" in...I introduced myself with a, "you're the ones sharing the styrofoam with the whole neighborhood..." It got the message across, I like them very much, and they are more careful with their garbage.

I hope it gets better for you.

39. Depends on the local dog laws, Deep.
For example, leaving your dog outside in a fenced yard, for its entire lifespan, is perfectly legal here, as long as you provide food and shelter. x(
Very common in this area.

BUT, allowing your dog to bark all the time is NOT legal.
And what do yard dogs do?
They bark.
A lot.
So I could call the animal control person for the barking but not for the leaving the dog out all the time.

23. I'd wait until they are moved in to decide whether or not...
...they are annoying.

Then invite them over for summer and talk about keeping their lwn clippings in their own yard and keeping the noise down at night. I'm guessing they did not decide to move at 9:45 pm. It probably took them that long to get from where ever they are coming from. I was in that same position once. It took longer to get from Worcester, MA to Cleveland in a pickup full of stuff than I thought and we didn't get to the apartment until late at night.

Frankly, if the dogs aren't barking, there really is no cause for complaint. It's not abusive to put the dogs outside at night. It used to be the norm.

24. In addition to what others said if you got the landscapers company
call them and complain, next time they do it take pictures and dump the crap back on the neighbors property if talking to the neighbors doesn't resolve it. Shoddy work from the landscapers won't get them hired back by the neighbors, and you undoing that work will send the message to the company that if they want to get paid again they need to do it right.

So far it seems the people they hired might be the ones causing the problems so I'd try not to sour things until you can speak to them in person, then if it continues it might be time to retaliate if you so choose.

27. sounds like it was the landscapers who were to blame for grass clippings
maybe ask who they used and file a complaint

dogs out at night in the phx area? what is it 70 degrees at night? hardly frigid temps, maybe they can't keep them wherever they are staying at the moment - I don't see the big deal if they are fed and watered

31. 60 is NOT cold
dogS are alone? no they apparently have more than one so they have companionship

now excessive barking IS a problem - be sure when you tell/ask them about the shoddy landscapers to mention you felt sorry for their "lonely" dogs while they were gone because they were barking quite a bit and now that they are moved in you are sure the dogs will be happier (and quieter)

try to head off the problems in a firm but friendly way before they get too bad, so far all of this seems pretty explainable - yes they could still be assholes, but so far I'm not seeing it - you need more evidence and time.

38. Get twenty or thirty of your toughest biker-gang friends to roll up onto their front yard
and rev their engines at 3 AM. If once doesn't cut it, just try a few more times. Remember: your object isn't to get along nicely with your new neighbors: it's to scare the crap out of them so they start looking for somewhere else to live pronto

43. are they renters or did they buy their home?
if they're homeowners, the best thing to do is just to not interact w. annoying people -- be polite but distant, always smile but always pretend to be busy

if they did something that caused your fiance to have a serious injury, call an attorney, don't discuss it on the internet

nothing you say, nothing THEY say, will make landscapers be anything but slobs trying to knock out the job as fast as possible, so ringing their doorbell and creating bad feeling is just a waste of time, instead, try closing your window when you're not in the room, it's a basic precautioun against thieves, snakes, raccoons, and weirdos anyway...grass is about the most harmless thing that would come through a window unnoticed around here

if they're renters, you can also just ignore them because loud, obnoxious people don't last long, i watch ;em come and go in the rental house next door, renters are sloppy and don't pay the rent, and then they're gone again without your having to do anything

in fact, a couple decades of living in the same house has taught me that if you refuse to interact w. your neighbors, nothing bad can happen and a lot of good things happen, such as they soon get disgusted and move away again w/out you having to lift a finger!!!

I only keep the windows open when my fiance is going to be working from home all day. And it's an absolute treat here in AZ to be able to keep the windows open all day.

It just sux cause most of my neighbors are quite cool..and the ones that moved outta the aforementioned house (actually, they left the mortgagte) were really cool.

I will wait and see....thx again.
