we have baby birds in the wall
they sing every 8 minutes when they get fed. the parents take turns bringing in the chow.

It is a prime nesting spot -- my kitchen on the 2nd floor. There is a loose shingle right by the window and a variety of birds have nested there. Right now it is a pair of starlings and their kids. Right next to a tall box elder and cat proof. You can see part of the nest if you get up next to the window.

I respect any animals that can maintain the feeding schedule this pair is doing. It's like the Berlin Airlift.

1. Very cool!
I've got Oak Titmice, House Finches, crows, and Western Scrub Jays, plus who knows what else here.

Baby birds are cool. :)

4. We have house finches in our hanging basket of impatiens
Right over the table on the front porch. With the lovely weather we've been having, we're taking our dinner out to eat there. While we are eating, the parents hang out on a tree limb about fifteen feet away, making concerned chirping noises.

Tonight, the male finally couldn't stand it and flew back into the basket while we were still eating. I realized that the faint chirps I had been hearing were not from birds further away - they were from the nest! Those house finches have hatched their eggs in that basket already.

This is worrisome - I need to water the flowers so they don't die. I guess instead of spraying them I will have to try to trickle water into the edge of the basket so I don't get the baby birds too wet.

The basket is outside the window where I have my computer and I have noticed the parents flying back and forth more often, so I guess I should not have been surprised.
