6. thoughts are with you
I've had to say goodbye to three different cats unexpectedly, and I hope that doesn't happen to you. It hurts like hell.
Send Monster my best wishes.

7. About 2 years ago my dog threw up some blood
Edited on Thu May-19-11 11:01 PM by XemaSab
After 3 days at the vet and $1200 in tests, they decided it was either cancer, an ulcer, or nothing at all.

We gave him the recommended course of antibiotics and stomach meds and we decided that if it was cancer we'd just let it run its course. :(

The good news is that it wasn't cancer and he seems to be fine today. :D

But good vibes for your cat. :pals:

8. did you check its mouth?
I would look in to make sure something isn't caught in its mouth. One time my calico cat had a bit of fishline caught 'round her tooth, making her gum bleed.

9. Is he being treated for the pancreatitis?
Sometimes when cats have been throwing up over a period of time, they can break a small capillary in their throat, and thus the red blood. If it wasn't a voluminous amount, I'd say, that's probably what happened.

Either way, you should monitor him carefully. Make sure he's doing the four basics: eating, pooping, drinking and peeing. A cat cannot go long periods of time without eating, or their is a risk of developing hepatic lipidosis. If the cat is not eating, the vet is most likely giving him fluids either via sub q, or intraveneously.

Good vibes to Monster for a quick recovery. Pancreatitis can be very painful, even if the cat isn't showing pain. If your vet has not recommended pain meds, I would ask about the need for them.
