So, I'm Going to Seattle, WA Tomorrow
I'll be staying downtown. What sights should I see? Where should I go?

Any good restaurants?

1. What do you like? We've got all sorts of attractions,
If you enjoy history, take the Underground Tour, - If engineering excites you, see the West Seattle Swing Bridge, The History of Flight Museum and the Future of Flight Museum. Lots of good restaurants in the downtown area, - again...what do you like?

5. Pioneer Square,
Greenlake Park, The Burke-Gilman Trail, Pike Place Market-take the hillclimb down to the waterfront, Westlake Center, The Seattle Center (tours of the Space Needle there), foot-passenger ferries to Vashon Island, Bainbridge Island, Orcas Island and Friday Harbor. Bring your Goretex and your good walking shoes, the weather will be in the mid-50's and raining.

4. Take the ferry (walk-on) to Bainbridge for the best view of downtown & Mt. Ranier
Take the bus to Fremont (26 or 28 local, not express, pick it up on 3rd Ave) to see the Lenin statue, the Fremont Troll, and the rocket ship. If you must, make the obligatory trip to Pike Place Market on a weekday morning if you can, to avoid the ridiculous crowds, and buy a book at my friend's used bookstore there (Lamplight Books). What kind of food do you like? All I know about eating downtown is cheap lunch.

6. I'll put in a vote for Pike Place Market unless you really hate crowds.
Yeah, it's a standard touristy thing to do, but it is neat, and even us locals will kill an afternoon there from time to time. Thanks to public support, there are a lot of oddball shops (like a magic shop) that would otherwise never be able to survive in a high-rent retail area like that. It's multi-level and labyrinthine, so it offers a fair amount of covered (horrible weather tomorrow) walking. If you don't mind the rain, I'll second Fremont-Ballard as a fun place to walk around. If you want something indoors but less crowded, the Burke Museum on the UW campus, or the Asian Art Museum and Botanical Gardens on Capitol Hill are pretty nice. Pike Place Market is the only one of those that is downtown, although all the other suggestions are pretty easy to get to by bus, if you won't have your own transportation.

I almost never eat downtown, but if you have a car or don't mind a bus ride or hike, there are tons of good restaurants in the adjacent-to-downtown neighborhoods of Queen Anne and Capitol Hill.
