The strangest vagina I have ever seen
Thetys vagina, that is. A salp, or pelagic tunicate, in the class Thaliacea, T. vagina is a free-floating filter-feeder widely found in the Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian Oceans, as well as the Mediterranean Sea. Like other salps, T. vagina exists in two forms: an asexual solitary form (the oozooid), which buds into the sexual, ropelike, colonial form (the blastozoids). Feeding on plankton ingested through its oral siphon, T. vagina generally grows to 23+ cm in total length.
