Neither of these strike me as funny, almost make me want to call PETA.

WTF is up with those? Do you know?

The cat is getting sheared for summer/ticks/fleas. It looks like it's in a vet's office.

The turtle's probably a 'shop, as was a giraffe 'OH HAI' pic from a year or so ago.

16. I've never heard of a cat getting sheared to bare skin as a treatment for fleas.
Not trying to harsh your thread, but it just looks wrong, the cat sure as hell can't be enjoying it.

And that flying turtle? I know these aren't your original images. but it is just wrong. How can a turtle flying above clouds be ok? I do hope it is a photoshop, but I don't assume it is.

Not cool with those two pics, I'm sorry to say. The rest are rofl, but those two make me want to rescue the poor animals, if it isn't too late.

18. Seriously? You think it might not be a photoshop?
so you think a turtle flying above the clouds is possible? Or maybe you think someone opened a window on the airplane and threw a turtle out for a laugh?

Sorry for harshing on your harsh.

20. You know, ms sarcasm....
Edited on Sun Jun-05-11 08:35 AM by Skip Intro

I don't know. I don't find it funny in any event.

But I will tell you that I did follow up on the story of the waste of human flesh, cheyanne cherry, or something like that, who baked a live kitten, and is facing at least one year in jail for doing so, not nearly enough if you ask me...and also on the story of the wothless pos who threw Patrick the dog down a garbage chute after leaving him tied to a rail until he starved, evidently to her, to death, and the wonderful little psychopath who destroyed "little heart" the kitten for no effin' reason. Yeah, I checked into all of those situations today. And you know what, after seeing that shit, it would not surprise me in the least if some sub-human threw a turtle out of a plane just to get a shot of it "flying." Maybe I'm just not as wrapped up and comfy in my little world as you are in yours.

27. Don't know abou the turtle,
but the cat was being trimmed into a lion cut. I suppose it could be a flea/tick thing, but in the southwest most trims are for the comfort of the cats - I have two long-haired cats and get them both done in the summer; they love it, go from hanging out in front of the air conditioner to playing in the courtyard.

I know several cat people who have it done, but maybe its just a desert/hot thing.

37. The cat is tranquilized. look closely.
and it is a longhair cat, judging from what head hair is left.
Sometimes neglected long hair cats get so badly matted they have to be shaved.
sometimes they can get mange so bad they have to be shaved.
Notice the cat is apparently at the vet's. There must have been a good medical reason for the treatment.

45. That's what I think is going on too.
If you look at the piles of fur around the cat, some of the clumps do look badly matted.

My guess is that this is a rescued stray with badly matted fur that needed to be shaved. Huge mats like that are painful and unhealthy, they can be full of parasites and cause awful skin infections. It's good for the cat to have them removed. It'll grow back and be a beautiful coat again if the cat is well-cared-for from now on.

42. The turtle is an obvious shop.
First, if a turtle were thrown into the air like that it would likely withdraw from the danger into it's shell.

Second, this sea turtle is far too relaxed to just be falling through the air. Look at it's flippers hanging in a downward position, not folded back from the rushing air.

Third, that shot would be impossible to set up. Just think of the dynamics involved, especially at an altitude above the cloud deck where opening a plane would be extremely hazardous to the plane.

Yes, I care deeply for animals and think those that harm them are the most vile creatures on earth. You're clearly overreacting though.

40. Shaved Kitty.

I seriously think that might be my kitty! Looks EXACTLY like her. I usually shave her myself twice a year, but have taken her to a groomer on occasion and they could have taken that photo. And yeah she hates it when she's getting shaved, but she LOVES it when it's over. She is like a different cat, running and playing in the summer as opposed to laying there (sometimes to the point of overheating and panting). The vet recommends getting her shaved for several reasons: 1. Because she doesn't shed, and her hair is so thick and fine it can cause her to overheat. 2. If I don't shave her routinely, her hair will get knots and snarls down to the skin, and if left unnoticed those can lead to discomfort at least, and possibly lesions and infections. 3. If left to grow naturally, her hair will become too long for her to groom on her own, and 4. Makes it a lot easier to monitor her for fleas, cysts/lumps and other health issues. The vet said said he wishes more pet owners would get their pets (both cats and dogs) shaved or trimmed in the warmer months. I agree.

Well done, SCE.

BTW, I'm posting this from a truck stop in Springdale, AR, where I dropped one car and picked up another. Now loaded for Atlanta. I'm not always able to get online, but if I miss a Sunday, this is the first thread I seek out.

68. Jack has a tissue obsession that he's never gotten over.
When he was a puppy, all paper was fair game. One time, I was really sick and went to sleep with a large pile of clean tissues beside me, so I wouldn't have to move. When I woke up, they were shredded all over the bed... x(

Now that he's five, you'd think he'd be done with chewing, but if there's a tissue within his reach, he just can't help hmself...

Have a decent week, my friend, and try to stay cool... The puppies, too... B-) :hi: :pals:
