OMD Zappa is a fucking GENIUS!!!
Listening to Apostrophe

Wow - and for fun, watch the Zappa Crossfire episode:

The word personified 'Antagonist,' which we all know is not a bad thing

1. I made a christmas gift for my brother
of every Zappa interview I could find on youtube. There were very many.

This interview with the Pennsylvania state police is one of the most interesting I have found.

4. I have never seen that interview.
The cop was a real Zappa fan. Amazing. Years ago (1970 something) we were at a Zappa concert in Columbus Ohio's Veteran's Memorial. A columbus police officer in uniform joined a group standing in a circle smoking dope at intermission. The guy was really hitting that doobie! We were in the next group doing the same. But we were amazed.

apostrophe is excellent too of course but I think I like Zoot Allures and Joe's Garage the best for albums though.

3. If you aren't familiar with Bongo Fury
maybe you should be. I like that version of Advance Romance. The entire crew sounds like they are really enjoying playing and having fun. George Duke is a riot, not to mention amazing on the keyboards.

Of course I love Apostrophe, Zoot Allures and Joe's Garage. Zappa was just wonderful. And lest we forget Studio Tan -The Adventures of Gregery Peckery. "Hello Gladis."

7. Bongo Fury is the BEST!
"I toldjya bout them anchovies, GEORGE DUKE!"

Awesome poetry in that album too - masterful wordsmithing, really. Sam and His Showing-Scalp Flat-Top and the Man with the Woman Head.

16. Oh, yeah.
I loved the poetry stuff with the weird moody instrumentation.

6. I watched it live.
We always watched Crossfire. I don't think the PTB want differing opinions 'out there' where people might get dangerous ideas. By the end of Crossfire it had been completely destroyed and was utterly useless.

11. Well, I just spent two hours watching Zappa interviews.
Check out Frank on Today Show in 1993. I cried.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDYzuwG-gOE&NR=1

I saw Zappa first at Eureka Municpal Auditorium circa 1967 and then multiple times at Fillmore West, Winterland, and Berkeley Community Theatre and add Circle Star Theatre (Tom Waites opening, revolving stage) and the last for me with (Oakland or Berkeley Symphony Orchestra -- my recall is flawed) and very large puppets and rock band at Zellerbach Hall at Cal circa 1986.

I really liked the Apostrophe and Roxy album bands live (circa 73-75).

13. Saw him in 83 on the You Are What You Is tour.
He conducted the whole thing. Amazing.

"Trouble Every Day" is a lot like Gil Scott-Heron.
