1. And two or three weeks ago I was freezing my
tuchus off because the apartment building turned off the heat on May 1. And two feet of snow in one day six months ago that left the streets barely passable until April. I wish I could go back 100 years and tell my ancestors "there is this place called California. Do NOT stop here, keep going until you find it."

2. Southern California is likely to have a big fire season this year.
So the grass is not always greener, sometimes it's aflame.

When we visited in early May there was still some piles in the shade.

8. Fortunately it isn't humid - relative humidity only 20%
and wind blowing like crazy - 21 knots gusting to 31. It's much nicer now, though - only 93.

10. Reminds me of places where I was able to dry my clothes very fast on a line.
Everything else about it was hard on the vegetation.

18. It's the dew point that matters when it comes to comfort, not relative humidity.
For me a dew point over 60F is muggy, 40F is perfect, 20F is dry.

11. You're keeping up with Texas.
It was 102 the other day in Houston, and the usual high humidity. If I had a)good sense; and b)somewhere to go, I'd leave. But I don't.

14. Yep, I'm looking forward to that! I need to get out and weed my flower
beds, but it's been too damn hot. I know it's supposed to rain the next few days, but I'm hoping I can get out there sometime tomorrow and get it done.

And I have not installed my a/c yet. I have a pinched nerve on my right hand and cannot lift my air conditioner. Well time to go somewhere.

22. Huge temperature swings are not all that unheard of here.
The largest 24 hour temperature change in Minnesota was 71 degrees on April 3, 1982 in Lamberton, located in Redwood County. The high was 78 degrees and a vigorous cold front dropped the temperature to 7.

That's one thing I don't find myself missing about the US, at all: the weather. Forecast for the next week is for highs of around 60F with lows in the 40's.
