2 points/questions about the kid with the soprano voice
Edited on Tue Jun-14-11 08:48 PM by UTUSN
This would be one Jackie EVANCHO, eleven yrs old, with a voice like an adult. I've seen her 3 or 4 times, mostly on The View I think, and lately in commercials for a new album.

1) Is it just me, or (since I only see/hear her in those two places so it could be the particular sound systems those places use) does it seem like she is lip synching, and I am NOT alleging or being malicious, just that her posturing and voice volume/inflections don't seem to match.

2) I've posted a couple or more times about Sarah BRIGHTMAN and referred at least once to her singing Nessun Dorma and was promptly assailed here for apparently being ignorant about the song's being a song sung by a MALE speaking his love for a lady in an opera. I really really knew that, but it's obvious that singers of great talent or ambition would covet singing one of the greatest melodies ever and one that would show off their talents, gender be damned!1 So BRIGHTMAN is a woman; BRIGHTMAN has the Dorma thing on one of her albums; and now this opera kid is featuring it from her latest album on the commercials ------------ o-KAYYyyyyyy?!

On Edit: And, yes, I have corrected the misspelling of "nessuN"!1 Thank Zeus for Google!1

1. Here she is singing outdoors.

I know what you mean about it looking like lip synching but I doubt it. Maybe it's her formal vocal training that causes the effect.

2. As far as I know, she is NOT lip-syncing.

The question came up when she was on "America's Got Talent," and I remember that she performed an a cappella song to prove it.

Here is one link I found in a quick Google search:

3. Thanks, both Rug & femmocrat, and repeating I am not alleging
but just saying that her manner is so controlled even when the intensity of the music is BIG and there seems to be some kind of lapse between the visual and the sound like when somebody is on a satellite feed from the other side of the planet...

Anyway, this comes up with me every time (so far) that I see her.

4. Here's Julie Andrews at the age of 12. She was incredible.

Some young girls do have adult voices at an early age. The 11-year-old sister of one of my high school classmates was mistaken for an adult when she sang from the back balcony of our church.
