When my computer had a flag come up that said "printer cartridge out of ink" I tossed
the cartridge in my purse to take to Staples for recycling. Apparently it wasn't completely out of ink:

Good thing I had a kleenex in my purse...

Kind of neat--maybe I'll use it in a collage.

2. I have a lazer printer that has been telling me that for two years. I just ignore it.

3. The last time my computer told me the printer was out of ink
It kept printing for another six months.

8. I generally run it for another few days, until the message becomes constant. Did
that this time too, until some white streaks were appearing on the print outs. I figured if the ink was running out to the extent that white streaks were coming out on prints, the cartridge was safely empty.

4. Run it until one of the colors dries out
Then simply change your font color to whatever you have left and keep printing!

5. Of course the message says that. If people...
...used all their ink and didn't waste half of it by mindlessly going to the store to buy more when the computer told them to, profits would go down. And we can't have that now can we? (scowl)

10. I have found that if you take the cartridge out of the printer,
and shake it a few times, you should get another couple months out of it.
