ereaders - any good?
Edited on Sun Jun-19-11 05:50 PM by NewJeffCT
I've never really seen the point unless it's a college student with a bunch of textbooks. Are they worth it?

I'm asking because my wife got a nice g/c from Barnes & Noble from her Chinese class and I thought it might be an idea instead of just buying a bunch of books...

1. If you travel and read a lot they're worth it
Or if you're just a really voracious reader who doesn't feel like going to a bookstore or library all the time.

Or if you're just sick of the shelf space that books take up in your house.

Or if you want to give a cool present to someone who reads a lot.

The fact that millions are being sold indicates that some folks think they're worth it.

2. I have a kindle and I love it
I read a bunch and I can also listen to most of the books so I just hook up the ear-buds and take it walking with me.

3. I probably wouldn't have bought one, but I inherited a Kindle
and I like it. I still prefer paper books, but the Kindle is also nice because I tend to be a book junkie and they pile up. The Kindle takes up a lot less space, and if I want to buy a new best-seller the Kindle version is usually cheaper than the paper version.

5. I got a Kindle last year and love it
I've been an avid reader for a long time (as a Navy brat, we lived in a lot of places that didn't have English-language TV available) and told myself I'd never give up paper books, but I was wrong. It's small, which means it doesn't take up much room in my already-cluttered apartment, and I have a few dozen books on it, which comes in handy whenever I'm waiting somewhere with time to kill, like in the airport on the way to visit my parents.

I also like that I can download samples of books I might be interested in. It's helped me rule some books out, and sold me on a few that I might not have bought otherwise.

I have the 3G+WiFi version, fwiw.

6. I've had mine for three weeks, LOVE it.
It fits in my purse. I send long web docs that I want to read to it (you email them for free) and don't have to be sitting at my computer- waiting anywhere is now more pleasant. It is the future, and it is good.

7. I'm so going to get one.
I'm planing several bicycle trips this year, and was worried about only being to take one or two books. With one of these I will be able to take as many as I want.
