George R.R. Martin's worldview (Game of Thrones)
While I'm loving reading his A Song of Ice and Fire books, I find myself frequently wondering why he chooses to make his fantasy world so utterly fucked up. It's his choice. He kills off characters with impunity and barely any thought at all. At the same time, he is genius with his storylines and plots and characters, but why does his world have to be so filled with just utter evil? You readers know what I'm talking about. HBO viewers only get a very small glimpse of what is really going on.
