be corrected where ever you are. It's only the when that annoys.

That implies that the lack of arrival of beer and travel money changes me, I still do the same things in thought and intent, and believe I have an effect somewhere with someone in some way that I hope is also a better way.

Sure I am not out playing pool, or having drinks listening to music.

But I am still playing in pools, having drinks, and listening to music.

And it is other people choice if they listen to me or not, and even when in the bar it was not every day you would find someone with an interesting story, that also liked listening to stories.

Although here is a good bar story. Back in the day, mostly I played pool against people that wanted to take peoples money, didn't really hustle that much.

And there was a group of us, we would all be at the bar for an hour or so, then split off to go to different tournaments or leagues. Then at 12:30 or so meet back at the main bar.

So we were sitting around chatting, and this guy comes in and challenges Don Mckay, by being pretty offensive, then says he doesn't have the money that Don would be willing to put down a beer and go play for, and the guy was offensive and belligerent to Don.

So I played him, so that Don could finish his story he was telling, I had heard it before. Within an hour, the guy literally left the bar without his hat, jacket, shirt, and without his shoes, in that case the bar tender stopped it before the guy lost his pants. Mac that night said when he was driving home, he saw the guy running down the street to an apartment complex, no shirt no shoes in the rain.

Once the guy lost his hat and shoes he was pot committed and was going to lose everything, so I got a pretty good feel for those things after so many years.

The guy wanted to gamble and was being mean and disrespectful to Don.

Good times.

Also why the group that tried to buy my Logan's Run Shirt, while I was in the bar, didn't understand how disrespectful that was, and as I said then, they still owe me a drink for the insult.

I would never choose to bet on my pool-playing ability.

I enjoy interesting stories, but it isn't a fair exchange, as I don't tell interesting stories.

I didn't know that.

Actually, the movie sounds kind of interesting. The poet, not so much. At least to me.

Hey, that's available on Netflix instant streaming. I'll probably watch it this week.

You know there is a group that thinks only 1-5% are citizens, that is the intent of oligarchy.

Personally my beer and travel money has not arrived, and there are grievous errors of action or information about actions.

My view, they should probably fall over dead, or the filters should. Although there may be another way to correct things that I do not know of. However the beer and travel money has not arrived, so sounds fine to me.

By there own rules, they serve no purpose, and hinder proper corrections, although that is not my decision.

Citizen, by the standards of some, is not something I would want to be a part of, and will actively see two tier systems removed.

Side note if you are talking about citizens as described in Constitution or national laws, that is a different topic.

Every time I go back to States, I get "You've never heard of THAT? Where have you been living, the South Pole?"

9. South Pole??????
Edited on Mon Jun-27-11 03:55 AM by RandomThoughts
I know what that means, there are some that think the North is heavenly, and South is Adversary.

The use of North and South, is used by many people to first define value, then from that define 'how they should be treated' to then rationalize something they want to believe.

Here is an example, steal from someone, then say they were suppose to have something stolen becuase 'insert something' that you then use to rationalize them as being south, doesn't even have to be true, they only have to convince themselves it is true to say they should be able to take kill do whatever.

They are special.

It is done be race, culture, nations, ideologies, religions, even various ideas of what is morale or values. But the worse of them take the next step that's even worse down that path, and don't even think they need a reason, but becuase nobody is stopping them, they think that means they can do whatever they want, they really don't care.

Most rationalize it by them being special, or by adding something to society by there view, although most make up some abstract justification like claiming some 'special status'

It is why so many cultures believe there will be justice eventually, becuase the state of a few people is so unjust, or the way in which they treat many people is so unjust.

They even teach it, to get people to accept those that already believe it as they move into that idea. The idea that people should only 'do for there own interest' and lots of philosophies that that is what people do anyways. Or ideas that people are animals and 'laws' or 'justice' is for those that don't know they can be ignored.

It is truly stunning how a few people can so mess up so many things, mostly by taking advantage of many to get them to help them. Why 'following orders' and authoritarianism is so bad. A mostly good person, doesn't really need authoritarianism to succeed, eventually the bad side will need it, hence why loyalty means so much to some groups, since loyalty is doing what you would disagree with, except by being loyal to someone else, why loyalty is so important to criminal groups.

And the wars really are to find and train people that can be used in many of those roles.

If Existence is neutral or good, they won't prosper in the end. if existence is evil hey at least I gave them some lumps and a chance or two, so I am not worried about it.

South Pole, heh.

Might as well play a song.

10. It's simpler than that
The North Pole has melted. The South Pole is the only one left where one could possibly be stationed.

11. Reference the post.
The melting of North or South pole, in metaphor, is not relevant.

As I said can go to h then n then - and even to space if necessary.

I am due beer and travel money, and many experiences.

I do not fear being alone only with the word, and think that might even be comforting, compared to accepting not moving to more justice and compassion.

12. Crazy Start
While I hated the whole Fairy-Land thing, I loved that Ball went with the usual characterization of Queen Mab. If she was in that pretty Fairy world that Sookie thought she was in, I would have stopped watching. Mab is a badass. She is a much more interesting character mean.

As for the rest, Bill is King??? I assume that means he bests Sophie-Anne and either married her or offed her. I suspect he married her. So that makes him Eric's boss. Thats gonna make Eric and Sookie much more difficult, and I am so on Team Eric.

Loved Tara's "twist." That girl could use a little happiness. I hope it lasts, but we all know it won't. But that was one sexy scene.

I hope that Sam's brother and Hoyt's mom only have a platonic relationship. I don;t think my eyes would survive anything else. Jessica is becoming my favorite on that show. Her inner turmoil played well. I am going to enjoy watching her fail to be good.

Not sure I got all that about the horses either.

But a lot can happen in a year.. :)

This new season seems to be the biggest departure from the books so far, though

14. Personally I think if they tried to mirror the books & show exactly it would be a bit boring
Edited on Mon Jun-27-11 01:12 PM by LynneSin
I found the books to be easy, simple reads without alot of excessive details outside the main characters (Sookie, Eric, Bill, Jason, Sam). To be honest, if they wanted to make the show just like the books it would be more like the Twilight movies and probably not very good.

I do like that Alan Ball took many of the extra characters and expanded them although sometimes I think he has just a few too many story lines. I really can't stand the Arlene/Terry story line and I'm starting to grow bored with the Jessica/Hoyt/Mama Fortenberry storyline (and seriously what's up with Tommy - how did he end up with Mrs Fortenberry?). I was kinda hoping that Tommy would try again to go after Jessica but I guess that isn't happening.

I get the impression that Alan Ball takes one main idea out of the book and goes with it each year. This year it's the Eric/Sookie/Witches storyline which diehard fans are biting at the bit to see. That means next year Quinn will probably be the big name in the series and rumor has it Scott Foley of "Felicity" fame has been hired for a major charactor for season #5 - should be interesting.

22. I agree with you and for the most part Ball has done a very good job
capturing the feel of the story and the essence of the main characters, while expanding in places that were necessary to make the jump from good story telling to amazing. And as I read the books, I find the SLs really get weaker and weaker the farther they go, but the series just gets stronger, so the dramatic choices Ball has made have been really excellent. I just don't remember Bill being King or Sookie being away for a year-but I agree with you that the extra character story lines are really good. I mean Lafayette is terrific as is Tara in their expanded forms.. good choices.

" I really can't stand the Arlene/Terry story line and I'm starting to grow bored with the Jessica/Hoyt/Mama Fortenberry storyline (and seriously what's up with Tommy - how did he end up with Mrs Fortenberry?)." I am totally with you there - and I am really not too keen on the demon-baby thing. I hope he doesn't grow at an accelerated rate and/or begin to control the minds of his parents/other children/animals/his toys or start eating raw meat.

The Quinn SL is going to be very interesting what with the conference and all.. Now I have to go find a pic of Scott Foley

15. I liked the surprises the 'fairy time" - (spoilers)
plot device created -- it rocketed the storyline forward in a great/fun way. So many questions were created -- Bill/King, Maxine/Tommy, Sam/Other shifters -- waaaa???? How??? I am sure we will get just enough back story on all this. Arlene's baby ripping the heads off dolls -- or was it really the baby or Terry having some sort of PTSD?? Jason being the "responsible" one of the Andy/Jason duo - there's a switch.

So far, so good. :)

I fell asleep after that and will need to re-watch, hope the rest of the episode was better :-)

18. It does but honestly, that opening scene really helped the series in the long run
If you think about it - Arlene found out in season #3 that she was pregnant from her boyfriend in Season #1. To be honest - only a few months passed since the series started until the end of season #3. Alan Ball needed to find a way to move along the series that made sense.

The Faerieland scene was a bit corny but served it's purpose and Ball was able to move the series a year ahead. I even like the flashbacks he's done to show how things got to where they are today - a big one you'll see in episode #2 (I won't spoil it).
