R.I.P. Brother..

My Brother-in-Law passed away in his home around 10am this morning. I've know Mark since we were teenagers, long before he met, dated, then married my younger sister. Mark and I were pretty wild, and all-in-all had way too much fun together.

He knew he was ill, but we did not know how bad it was. He went to his community hospital, and they told him to head straight to Loma Linda Medical Center last Wednesday. He had some initial tests, and was scheduled for a slew of tests on Friday. On Friday one of his doctor's told him and my sister that all the test were cancelled and that he needed to make hospice arrangements. He returned to his home in Big Bear, last night he slept deeply and peacefully, passing over this morning.

I do not morn him. I am just grateful for the friendship and fun we've had for more then thirty years. R.I.P my brother..

On the one hand I'm sorry he went so suddenly. On the other hand, how much did he suffer (i.e. how long had he been ill)?

At that time he gave his prized GMC Sprint (Blueprinted and balanced) to his youngest son. He had an illness that he had lived with for some time. A couple of weeks ago his weight went in to free-fall and my sister related to us that he was refusing to see a doctor. Both my sister's and I started laying plans to snatch him up and wrestle him in to a Doctor's office. I posted "love ya bro" on his facebook page last Tuesday and he called me within the hour to tell me he was going to the local hospital the next day. None of his blood chem tests showed positive for cancer up to the very last day in the hospital. Mark and my sister had to endure a week long roller coaster ride of good, bad, not so bad, and finally no chance news, due to some of initial tests at the local hospital, and Loma Linda showed no presence, then not only cancer but also that it metastasized through out his body.

He was given two weeks to a month, but lasted 4 days. The hospice people were fantastic, spending the last night at my sister's house to see Mark and my sister through his passing.
