I'm worried about Tim, my pet cricket

He seems to have lost his zest for life. He's old, and appears to be in pain. Should I put him under?

Offering advice and comforting you.
I won't claim you're silly, misguided or dumb,
Even an insect can be important to some.

Crickets die swiftly, like skeeters or flies,
So by now, light has probably left faceted eyes.
Yes, crickets like people will fade and grow old,
Since they're exothermic, they won't survive cold.

If Timmy yet lives, death with comfort's the issue,
So say your goodbyes and put Tim on a tissue.
Place Kleenex and cricket right in the deep freeze,
And Tim will cross over with relative ease.

The Bridge of the Rainbow has birds, dogs and cats,
Snakes, mice and ferrets, and even some rats.
But a space in the silence, to be filled, that's the ticket,
Takes the chirping of one tiny newbie, Timmy, the Cricket!
