Had To Put Our Doggie Down Today
Drowning in his own tissues and they couldn't figure out why. He was miserable and it was the only thing.

Not a good day.

It's the kindest but most difficult thing you can do for your pet. Just know he'll see you at the Rainbow Bridge.

Peace to you and your pet's soul.

3. So sorry for your loss. I know it was heart-wrenching.
I had to put down my beloved Rottie a year ago yesterday. She was miserable. She had bone and liver cancer. And as you stated, it was the only thing to do.

15. Probably Leukemia
White cell was 63,000. Normal is around 10k. Red cell count was 60% of normal.

The xray wouldn't even reveal lung tissue.

On July 4th, he was yelling at the kids on the bikes who were "riding by his yard".

17 days later; gone.

I had to do that with one of my kitties back in May, so I know how it sucks. At least he's not miserable any more. Big hug.

21. Yeah, GAC, I'm still here.
One of my doggies is gettin' up there too - around 15 now. But she's a lhasa and stubborn to boot. She'll probably make it to 20 just out of meanness!

All the best to you,

Bake

The hardest thing on us is almost always the best and easiest for them. Doesn't make it any less terrible, though.

26. That's putting it mildly
I've been in about the same place you are, and I've got an idea of all the terrible things you are feeling, so I was trying to be more refined for a change :-) but yeah. Suck doesn't even come close to the magnitude of ass this blows.

I could tell you things - all true - about how time will replace the pain of loss with good memories that don't bring pain; how love can't be destroyed by anything; how your grief is your absolute proof that you choose correctly for your friend and other things, because I've been down this path of unbelievable suckitude too many times, but you probably don't want to hear any of that now.

Because this really, REALLY sucks. And I'm so sorry you have this to deal with.

We're both educated. We knew it was best.

But, you know what, that doesn't make it easier.

33. Quite A Drag Isn't It
Thing is, his health deteriorated so quickly. He was completely normal when we were on the patio cooking on July 4. Barking at the kids riding by on their bikes in order to "protect the yard". The next weekend he was still pretty much normal.

The last 5 days he wasn't breathing right, and yesterday he was getting so little O2 that his gums were turning purple.

Had so much fluid in the pulmonary cavity that the xray couldn't even show the heart.

17 days from healthy as a racehorse to dead.

Except Heidi was almost 16.5 years old. Just the week before she was jumping on the gate when it came time for food. Then no appetite. We had to let her go as she was starving herself to death.
